Generic Frame Procedure (GFP) Advantages

• Byte by byte transmission (unlike IMA & MLPPP): • Reduced latency, for time-sensitive services

• Fixed overhead (unlike HDLC):• Improved line utilization

• predictable throughput regardless of data transmitted

• Reduced packet re-transmission due to errors • Frame delineation and synchronization mechanism based on GFP HEC field and

not HDLC flag

• Error detection and correction (single & multiple)
