Having been involved since its very inception, the owners of ‘Richmond House’ created a family home to suit specifically their own needs. In so doing, the result is a home which is idyllic for most families. Built about 20 years ago on a corner plot, the accommodation offers large open-plan living spaces conducive to the modern way, although the enclosed family room is ‘cosier’ if seclusion be desired. The kitchen is a cook’s dream with a wonderful range of appliances, many of which are cleverly concealed to provide clear clean lines. The master bedroom suite has a dressing room with balcony, which simply cannot fail to impress any woman! A library area, study, three further bedrooms, family bathroom and sauna complete the first floor. A staircase rises from the first floor study to a central sitting area/snug which is flanked by bedrooms five and six.

The quality of finish throughout is of a high standard with hardwood double-glazed windows, an Oak staircase, radiator covers, bespoke vanity surrounds to the bathrooms, and feature modern internal stained glass windows.

The property is fully enclosed by a high brick wall with twin ornate wrought-iron gates, behind which is a spacious driveway providing secure off-road parking for several vehicles. If you want to work from home, the garage has been converted into a home office and large store room, however it could easily be restored should a garage be preferred (the external doors are still in place). The gardens are mainly laid to lawn with plenty of flower beds and mature planting. A large stone built wood-burning pizza oven is great for entertaining guest whilst they relax in the brick built summer house which has working shutters, allowing al-fresco dining even if the weather takes a little turn for the worse. Tucked away, just outside the sun room is a very cleverly sited hot tub in a quiet secluded spot.

This spacious and uniquely designed family home offers everything a modern family would want and plenty options for each member to have their own ‘personal’ space. If travel to the capital is required, there is a mainline station, at Havant, just over the bridge onto the mainland. The Island offers junior schooling and Hayling Island College for seniors, whilst Portsmouth High School and Portsmouth Grammar School are accessible on the mainland.

Being located within a hop-skip-and-jump of the island’s southern seafront it offers an abundance of leisure opportunities such as an array of water sports, golf and walking, to mention a few. Of course there’s plenty to keep younger children entertained too with an open park of extensive acreage, including tennis courts and a playground, at the bottom of Stamford Avenue itself. If the children are happy then so are the parents! This is a home worthy of viewing.
