Friends of 4-H 2013-2014
Norma Nosek and Virginia Goerger The Richland County 4-H has enjoyed the comforts, location, food and hospitality provided by all of the efforts of the Bagg Farm volunteers for six years. Of course, when we think of the “go to” people at the Bagg Farm, Norma and Virginia are the first people that come to mind. The official 4-H emblem is a green four-leaf clover with a white H on each leaf standing for Head, Heart, Hands and Health. In 1911 during the development of 4-H emblem it was suggested the four H’s stand for “Head, Heart, Hands and Hustle” … head trained to think, plan and reason; heart trained to be true, kind and sympathetic; hands trained to be useful, helpful and skillful; and the hustle to render ready service to health and vitality.
Norma and Virginia are living examples of the four H’s that have stood the test of time. They use their heads to make the Bagg Farm an inviting place to visit, their passion for the Bagg Farm is truly heart felt, and they both share the old adage of being useful. And hustle--they do! Whether making pies, cleaning, planning or painting, they are on the go. Certainly all this hustle contributes to their good mental and physical health. Thank you, Norma and Virginia, for demonstrating good citizenship and volunteerism to our 4-Hers and also to us as adults. Your daily living exemplifies your desire to make the best better!

The 4-H name and emblem have United States federal protection under federal code 18 U.S.C. 707, passed in 1939, slightly revised in 1948. These protections place the 4-H emblem in a unique category of protected emblems, along with the U.S. Presidential Seal, Red Cross, Smokey Bear and the Olympic rings.
