Key Microsoft Play for Gov. •Potential in-year savings of £354m•Based on 3m central Gov desktops:
• PC Management £4m• App Virtualisation up to £300m
(£30 per desktop potential saving)• Multiple images £50m
Savings in future years•PC management £478m 5 years•Five year savings of circa £1,428m

A pre-defined, standardised Windows desktop across the whole of Government based on the work we have done with the US Federal Government Desktop Core Configuration. This approach will significantly reduce the cost (outsourcer & IT staff/resources) and complexity of managing multiple desktop configurations across Government.
Examples•US Air Force
• £39 reduction/desktop/year• Total £94m over 5 years• £10m power savings per year
•City of Miami • 3.5k employees. £81k per year
savings from deployment of Win7
• £29k energy cost saving in year 1
