The goal of this GRF proposal is to establish a reliable and valid measure of digital stress that demonstrates measurement invariance for two pertinent populations: adolescents and young adults. After identifying potential constructs associated with digital stress and identifying key behavioral and psychosocial outcomes (e.g., anxiety, depressive symptoms), the proposed project will identify and then confirm the factor structure and measurement of digital stress in samples of adolescents and young adults. This project will facilitate further studies on outcomes associated with digital stress, as well as a more nuanced understanding of the conditions under which media use is associated with negative outcomes.
