Rhea tray guide v 0.1

This do it yourself tray will keep cards from falling into the Saturn and give it more of a factory look.

IMPORTANT NOTEWhenever you are screwing metal into plastic you risk stripping threads. To avoid this, always start by gently rotating the screwdriver counter-clockwise until a click is felt/heard. Then turn clockwise until the screw is finger tight. In some cases it may be possible to repair stripped threads by heating the head of a screw however, this is not advised. To achieve finger tight hold a screwdriver like this.

Items needed

Rhea compatible Sega Saturn (This guide uses a US model 1)RheaPhilips screwdriverPlastic cover from an old notebookStrawScissorsX-ACTO knifeCardboard from a cereal box or similarBlack Duck tape or glue for flaps

Use this rough template as a starting point, modifying where necessary to fit your Saturn. On the final tray it is important to lightly score the opposite side and fold prior to cutting any holes.

Due to heat, a larger area may need to be cut out.

Once you have your rough template fitting properly, trace the template over the dull side of the plastic notebook cover. There should be enough material to make two trays. Cut your tray out and score the shiny side of the tray and fold the flaps. Now you can slowly start cutting holes, checking for fitment. This tray is close to fitting. It needed two other holes made near the bottom, as well as enlargement of other holes. The fitment should be tight but, not so tight that it takes force to keep the Saturn together.

Once the tray is fitting properly, tape or glue the flaps, install it along with the Rhea so that you can test fit the two posts made from the straw. The purpose of this is just to keep the Rhea from popping up. Do not use the rubber posts from the CD drive.

When finished with fitment tests, reassemble the Saturn, remembering to turn counter-clockwise until you feel the click, then screw finger tight and you are done.

The only main problem that this template has, is the corner by the reset button interferes with the latch. While it does work, a notch should be cut out to allow for smoother operation.

This rough guide was made after the project was completed and is missing some details. Use this guide at your own risk and feel free to update it.
