HYBRIFLEX is designed to provide maximumexibility at installation and ongoing reliabilitylong after installation is complete.

To simplify installation, the HYBRIFLEX corrugatedaluminum outer armor offers outstanding bendingcharacteristics, which allows it to be installed like aconventional coaxial RF cable.

And it is designed to standard RF feeder diameters.Therefore, commonly available RFS CELLFLEX LCF series feeder accessories can be used in allHYBRIFLEX installations. And to further simplifyinstallation, HYBRIFLEX is delivered pre-connectorizedfor ber optic and DC connectors.

To ensure lifetime reliability, the corrugated aluminumouter armor provides more durable, lightweightprotection than polyethylene tubes and at a muchlower cost than cable trays. This armor protects thepower and ber optic (multi-mode or single-mode)cables during and after installation. In addition, aprotective jacket on each individual cable pair ensuresthe inner cables are suitable for outdoor use.

One of the key componentsof the RFS portfolio of RRHsolutions is DC-FIT, theworlds rst Direct Current(DC) converter. Another

is RFS ber optic (F/O)set for site renovation,which enables reuse ofexisting RF feeders as ductsfor optical bers. Thesesolutions dramaticallysimplify upgrades ofexisting wireless cell sites.They make it easier foroperators to migrate tobase station architecturesthat take advantage of RRHcongurations and beroptic technologies.Typically,upgrading or replacingold-style base stations withthe latest base stationarchitecture requiresoperators to dismantle cellsites to install new opticalbers, DC power cablingand equipment. This istime consuming and, inmany cases, not acceptablebecause operators cannotgenerate revenue from asite that is off-air.

Easy migration toRRH architectures

With DC-FIT and RFS F/O-FIT forsite renovation, operators can avoid

disruptions in service and quickly migrateto RRH architectures by leveragingexisting base station hardware. The DC-FIT converter is designed to connect aDC cable with an existing coaxial cablerun. It features innovative technologythat turns an existing coaxial foamdielectric feeder into a RRH powersupply. As a result, upgrading aconventional coax site to RRH technologyis a breeze, compared to the time-consuming installation of a newDC cable run.

These innovative solutions are availablefor coaxial cables with a 7/8, 1-1/4 or1-5/8 nominal diameter and DC-FIT isalready in use around the world.

Reduce upgradetime and costs

By reusing existing, deployed coaxialcable to transport the DC voltage and

optical bers required by the tower topRRH, operators can signicantly reducerollout planning and site preparation timeby up to 50 percent.

Upgrades are simplied because only twoDC-FIT converters and two F/O-FIT forsite renovation are required per site. Inaddition, operators do not need to waitfor permission from the base stationsites landlord to perform upgrades. Plus,additional equipment, such as cherrypickers, is not needed to install theconverter. And the upgrade does notrequire an extension of the cable pathfor the DC cable, or installation of reprotection in the form of wall glandsfor the power cable.

As a result, DC-FIT and RFS F/O-FIT for site renovation allow operators toperform upgrades where and whenthey need them. This saves time,money, and operational headaches.

Vodafone Germany leverages DC-FIT for site renovation

DC-FIT

is being used by operators around the world to simplify upgradesof existing wireless cell sites to RRH congurations. For example, Vodafonein Germany is leveraging the benets of DC-FIT to take advantage of
