The Chemring/SAAB developed BOL chaffpack is used with the BOL dispenser.
The innovative BOL dispenser utilises the redundant space inthe LAU-7 missile launch rail.
The BOL system offers storage space of five times morechaff capacity than conventional pyrotechnic dispensingsystems. BOL does not take up valuable weapon pylon spacein the aircraft and the missile is carried as normal allowingexisting dispensers on the aircraft to carry flares or othertypes of expendables.
The BOL dispensing system has become one of NATO’smost widely used chaff deployment systems; currently usedon Tornado, Eurofighter Typhoon, F14, F15, F18, Gripen andSaab 2000.
