Linda Yoshizawa’s artwork reflects the mixing of two cultures – Japanese and American. Her nature-inspired drawings are symbols of both yearning and peace. A variance of colors, values, and textures evoke a range of moods, questions, and provide a sense of serenity.
Using an innovative approach to printmaking, Yoshizawa produces monotype prints by painting an image in oil on a Plexiglas plate and then rolling over it with water-soluble ink. The image is then transferred onto paper through use of an etching press. Often the prints are then cut and collaged together – a process that is very freeing for the artist. Yoshizawa’s technique requires that she draw a new image for each impression; therefore, every print is one-of-a-kind. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Yoshizawa attended Pomona College in Clare-mont, California, where she received her BA in studio art. She currently resides in the San Francisco Bay area. Linda Yoshizawa is a member of the California Society of Printmakers (CSP) and the Los Angeles Printmaking Society (LAPS).
