Fort Ticonderoga

• Ethan Allen & the Green Mountain Boys took over Fort Ticonderoga.

• The seized cannons for the Colonial or Continental Army.

• Colonials needed the cannons to be able to fight the British with any chance of being successful.

2nd Continental Congress

• Elected George Washington as Commander of Continental Army.

• Drafted the Olive Branch Petition asking King George to Repeal Intolerable Acts.

• Colonist still wanted to pursue peaceful means.• King Rejected and vowed to bring Colonist rebels
