Revolutionary War Battle Summary Project

Each person in your team will take on a “role.” Each role has certain responsibilities that need completed based on your assigned event.

Below are the roles and responsibilities:

! The Historian: The Historian is in charge of completing the “Event Report” with the required details for your ! ! ! ! event.

! ! ! ! The Historian is also in charge of creating a “poster” ! ! ! ! that will be used to teach the class about your event.

! ! ! ! In groups of 4, there will be 2 Historians. Both ! ! ! ! Historians can work together on completing both ! ! ! ! assignments.

! The Developer: The Developer is in charge of creating a detailed ! ! ! ! picture of your event. It must be detailed, specific, ! ! ! ! and easy to understand. This picture will be ! ! ! ! recreated twice, on the “Battle Report Paper” and ! ! ! ! the poster. It is essential that the Developer fully ! ! ! ! understands their event and can recreate it in an ! ! ! ! accurate image.

! The Thespian: The Thespian is in charge of creating a “skit” that ! ! ! shows a major “highlight” of the event. It is ! ! ! essential that the Thespian fully understands the ! ! ! event, what happened, and the details of it in order to ! ! ! recreate it in a skit. The Thespian must also create 4 ! ! ! copies of the script for each group member.

The Historian:

1.) Complete an “Event Report” paper based on information regarding your event. To do this correctly, you need to fully read through your information with your team. Eventually, you will be sharing the

information on your “Event Report” with the entire class. In the end, everyone in class should have the same information on their “Event Report” as you! Since you are teaching the class, you have to double-check your accuracy!

2.) You will be “teaching” the class about this event. Complete a “poster” that you will use to help you provide the essential information. What is essential? Your classmates need to have the “Event Report” for

your event !lled out correctly when you are !nished!

So, what should be on your poster? Everything from your ba"le report, and more! Any interesting quotes? Cool facts?

Leave a space for the Developer. #e Developer will be adding the “scene” from this event on this poster too.

#e Historian is in charge of completing an “Event Report” and a “poster” to help teach the class and your event

If you have 2

Historians,

work together

on both tasks!

TIPS: - Make sure you are accurate!

- If you have a partner, tackle this together!

- If not, have someone look over it to ensure it makes sense!

- Remember, you are helping the class fill out their “Event Reports”

The Developer:#e Developer is in charge of creating a picture that shows your event. #e “scene” must be detailed and accurate. #is picture will be distributed to all classmates and displayed during the presentation.

1.) It is absolutely essential that you understand your event. You need to read through the information with your team, ask questions to your team members if you are confused, and reread areas that are

confusing.

2.) Start thinking about a picture that you can create that shows a signi!cant moment in this event. You may need to sketch a couple “test draws” before the !nal moment. Your rough dra$ “sketch”

needs to be approved by me before you start your !nal copy. 3.) When you are ready, get a “picture” paper from the stack. Do not draw your picture on your “Event Report” at this time. Take your time, it needs to look good. Draw arrows to explain what

certain things are. Be speci!c. Be detailed. Be accurate.

4.) Once you have your picture complete, turn it in to me. You will need to be able to explain your picture to me.

5.) You will then recreate this whole picture again, but this time larger, on the poster the Historian is working on. #ey will tell you where it goes - do your best to make it look good!

6.) When your team presents to the class, you will be responsible

for explaining your image.

Tips:

- You have to read

the information

thoroughly first.

You are an expert in

this event!

- Each of your

classmates will

receive a copy of

your image. Make

sure you take your

time!

- Ask your team for

advice!

The Thespian:#e #espian is in charge of organizing a “skit” for their team to

follow. #e skit needs to be wri"en (or typed) for each group member and must focus on a “memorable moment” in the event.

1.) First, thoroughly read the information that has been provided to your group about the event. It is absolutely essential that you know what your event was, what happened in your event, and the outcome of it.

2.) Once you feel that you have a !rm understanding on your event, start

thinking about how you would recreate it in a skit. You only need to show a “signi!cant moment” that occurred in your event. #ink about a sporting event - ESPN does not show the whole game, just a couple highlights. You just need to show a couple highlights.

3.) Your skit should be about 30 seconds to 1 minute in length.

4.) You need to have a copy of the script for each person in your group. If you have four people, you need four scripts.

5.) You need to include each person in your group equally.

6.) I have a few “props” that you can use, however you may need to bring additional props from home.

TIPS: - Make sure you understand the event!

- You are only showing us a small part of the event. Focus on an

important moment, one that stands out!

- Be creative! Think about the setting and what you can use to bring

the skit alive!
