Such as reproduce foraminifera.

Stance of Japan

■To use experience and solve problem in Japan　 The 2/3 of land in Tuvalu made by

“Foraminifera” . They cultivate “Foraminifera” and produce sand (=

land).

They research about; 1. What types of environment “Foraminifera” easy

to reproduce. 2. How current around island carry sand and

cover the island.

Research and Cultivation of “Foraminifera” is first trial in the world.

If Japan succeed this project, it will let to solve problem of sea rise all over the world.

Japan is also a country of island, so this experience will be effective to solve own problem.

Approach 1: Reproduce Foraminifera

①Cultivate Foraminifera by aquarium

②Put Foraminifera on mat, and lay it at seaside

Approach 2: Remote sensing

Check “Remote Sensing” picture from satellite. Then create map to see where and how many

Foraminifera = corals exist.

Predict amount of annual productivity of Foraminifera. Create new provision.

Prospect for the future

Conclusion

Tuvalu is one of the most smallest countries in the world.

However, because of our daily activities, their island is faced to danger.

Researchers started to reconstruct Tuvalu by using foraminifera.

We should think about rising sea issue.
