THE EXISTING SITE IS COVERED BY A WOOD CHIP PLAY AREA,
LANDSCAPING, AND CONCRETE WALKWAYS. A SMALL SLOUGH RUNS
ADJACENT TO THE SITE. EXISTING LANDSCAPED AREAS ARE
COMPOSED OF GRASS, TREES, AND SHRUBS.
PROPOSED CONDITIONS
THE SCOPE OF THE PROJECT CONSISTS OF REPLACING THE WOOD
CHIP SURFACING AT THE EXISTING PLAY AREA WITH A NEW TILE
SURFACING. THE EXISTING PLAY EQUIPMENT WILL REMAIN. A NEW
CONCRETE WALK WILL SURROUND THE PERIMETER OF THE PLAY
AREA. NEW SAND PLAY, BENCHES AND LANDSCAPING ARE ALSO
PROVIDED. THE NEW PLAYGROUND WILL CONTINUE TO BE USED AS
A PUBLIC PARK.

TREE AND SITE PROTECTION NOTES:
1. ALL UNDERGROUND UTILITIES SHOWN ON THIS PLAN ARE APPROXIMATE. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL EMPLOY A
UTILITY LOCATING SERVICE 48 HOURS PRIOR TO ANY EXCAVATION AND HAVE ALL UTILITIES LOCATED AND
MARKED. ANY DAMAGED UTILITIES SHALL BE REPAIRED BY THE CONTRACTOR.
2. GAS LINE: THREE VACX POTHOLES WILL BE REQUIRED TO VERIFY EXACT LOCATION OF THE GAS LINE. NOTIFY
NORTHWEST NATURAL AT LEAST 7 DAYS PRIOR TO CONDUCTING ANY WORK WITHIN 10 FEET OF THE HIGH
PRESSURE GAS PIPELINE. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL KEEP EQUIPMENT A SAFE DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE
HIGH PRESSURE GAS LINE UNTIL THE ON SITE SAFETY WATCHER CAN OVERSEE THE WORK AND MOVEMENT
OF SAID EQUIPMENT. SEE SPECIFICATIONS FOR REQUIREMENTS AND REGULATIONS RELATED TO
NOTIFICATION AND WORK WITHIN THE GAS LINE EASEMENT.
3. CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY SITE CONDITIONS AND REPORT ANY DISCREPANCIES TO THE LANDSCAPE
ARCHITECT PRIOR TO BEGINNING WORK.
4. WILLAMALANE MAKES NO GUARANTEES AS TO THE ACCURACY AND COMPLETENESS OF THE TOPOGRAPHIC
FEATURES. EXISTING SITE FEATURES AND UTILITIES IDENTIFIED ON THIS PLAN ARE BASED ON SURVEYS
PROVIDED BY OTHERS AND MAY NOT REFLECT EXACT SITE CONDITIONS AT THE TIME THE PROJECT IS BID OR
CONSTRUCTED. ALL CONTRACTORS ARE RESPONSIBLE TO VERIFY THE LOCATION, HORIZONTAL AND

7. CLEAN DUST, DIRT, AND DEBRIS CAUSED BY DEMOLITION OPERATORS AS DIRECTED BY THE OWNER OR
OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVES. PRESERVE AND PROTECT ADJACENT AREAS FROM DAMAGE CAUSED BY
DEMOLITION OPERATIONS.
8. THE PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS, RULES, REGULATIONS, ETC. OF APPLICABLE
REGULATORY AGENCIES SHALL BECOME A PART OF THESE NOTES AS IF REPRODUCED IN FULL. WHERE
CONFLICTS OCCUR, THE MOST STRINGENT REQUIREMENTS SHALL APPLY.
9. SEE SITE PLAN FOR LOCATION OF POROUS CONCRETE. LIMIT TRAFFIC AND COMPACTION DURING DEMOLITION
ACTIVITIES WITHIN THIS AREA TO MAINTAIN PERMEABILITY OF SOIL.
10.EXISTING PLAY EQUIPMENT IS TO BE PROTECTED DURING CONSTRUCTION. ANY DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT OR
FOOTINGS TO BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED AT THE CONTRACTOR'S EXPENSE.
11. ANY DAMAGE WHICH OCCURS OUTSIDE CONSTRUCTION LIMITS DUE TO CONSTRUCTION OPERATIONS SHALL
BE REPAIRED AND/OR REPLACED BY THE CONTRACTOR AT NO ADDITIONAL COST TO THE OWNER.
12.CONSTRUCTION FENCE LOCATIONS SHOWN ARE THE MINIMUM REQUIRED TO BE INSTALLED BY THE
CONTRACTOR. IF REQUIRED TO REMOVE FENCING TEMPORARILY FOR ACCESS OR CONSTRUCTION, THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL MAKE ALL EFFORTS TO ENSURE NO DAMAGE OCCURS TO ANY PLANT MATERIAL.
13. ALL IRRIGATION ADJUSTMENTS (HEADS, LATERALS, ETC) WILL BE ADJUSTED IN THE FIELD BY WILLAMALANE

CONSTRUCTION.
14.NO WORK, ACCESS, STORAGE, OR ENTRY BEYOND TOP OF BANK AS SHOWN ON PLANS.
15.PRESERVE AND PROTECT ALL MANHOLE COVERS, VALVE BOXES ETC. PROVIDE COLLARS AROUND THESE
FACILITIES AND ADJUST ELEVATIONS OF ALL LIDS/COLLARS AS REQUIRED TO BE FLUSH WITH FINISH GRADE.
16.PROTECT THE CRITICAL ROOT ZONE OF ALL TREES TO BE RETAINED ON SITE:
· DO NOT ALLOW COMPACTION BY EQUIPMENT TRAFFIC DURING CONSTRUCTION OR DURING DEMOLITION
AT FUTURE LANDSCAPE AREAS OR ZONE OUTSIDE CONSTRUCTION FENCE.
· DO NOT ALLOW CEMENT TRUCKS TO RINSE WITHIN THE PROTECTION AREA, ANYWHERE THAT TREE
ROOTS EXIST OR IN PLANTING AREAS.
· DO NOT STOCKPILE MATERIALS, DEBRIS OR DIRT WITHIN CRITICAL ROOT ZONES.
· MAINTAIN WATERING WITHIN THE CRITICAL ROOT ZONE FROM MID-MAY TO MID-OCTOBER AT THE RATE
OF NOT LESS THAN THE EQUIVALENT OF 1-1/2" OF WATER OVER THE ENTIRE AREA PER WEEK.
· DO NOT TRENCH, EXCAVATE, FILL OR OTHERWISE DISTURB THE SOIL WITHIN THE CRITICAL ROOT ZONE
WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION.
16.PROTECT ALL EXISTING SHRUB BEDS WITH ORANGE CONSTRUCTION FENCING AROUND THE PERIMETER OF
THE PLANT BED. ALL SHRUBS DAMAGED SHALL BE REPLACED ON A LIKE FOR LIKE BASIS AT CONTRACTORS
EXPENSE.
17.PROTECT THE CROWN AND TRUNK OF TREES TO BE RETAINED ON SITE:
· OPERATE EQUIPMENT IN SUCH A WAY AS TO AVOID CONTACT WITH TREE TRUNKS OR BRANCHES.
· PRUNING OF TREES MUST BE DONE BY AN I.S.A. LICENSED ARBORIST.
18. ALL TREES DAMAGED OR DESTROYED DURING CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE REPLACED AT CONTRACTORS
EXPENSE. REPLACEMENT TREES SHALL BE OF THE SAME SPECIES AND MAXIMUM CALIPER SIZE FEASIBLE AS
DETERMINED BY THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE.
