The pull box cover plate provided earlier was of size 2 X200 X 300 mm. The cover is fixed to close the cut away for Passenger emergency pull box provided in the cantrail cover panel. Gaps of about 5 mm exist between the cantrail cover panel and the Passenger Emergency Alarm Pull box cover as there is a mismatch of profile of the Cantrail cover panel and pull box cover plate. Because of the gap, providing the handle of Passenger Emergency pull box and operating the same was problematic. Hence, the size of the cover plate has been reduced to 2X160X300 mm. The gap between the Cantrail Cover Panel and Pull Box Cover plate is eliminated. This resulted in ease of fitment of pull box handle and also operating the same. This has been implemented in LACCN 70, LACCW 83 and LSCN 234 onwards.
Presently, the continuity is being tested with battery operated buzzer which consumes a lot of time as every cable has to be tested physically. The continuity is being checked with the micro controller based device now. The advantages are as follows:-
i) Time of inspection of continuity check will be reduced by minimum 50%.
ii) If this tester is used in coach level, inter short and earth fault also can be checked
iii) Any non-conformity during checking can be stored and it can be retrieved
iv) Since it is a programmed device the accuracy will be 100%.
Modified
Presently, PU paint, hardener and water based etch primer are being supplied in the container of metal/tin for exterior spray painting of coaches. Necessary action has been taken to supply the above materials in plastic containers in order to improve the handling of paint containers and minimize the wastage of paint. Also, supplying the paint in plastic containers will facilitate easy disposal by the way of buyback policy with the suppliers and hence the accumulation of scrap will be drastically reduced in the shop floor.
