M.TECH PROJECT REVIEW - MANUAL
CURRICULUM:
All the students doing their M.Tech Programme have to undergo Project Work in two
phases, namely Project Work Phase-I in their III Semester and subsequently Project
Work Phase-II in their IV Semester of study. Accordingly Due Weightage has been
allocated for these phases.
PROJECT REVIEWS:
• Project Review is the continuous Assessment of the Project work done by the
candidate and will be monitored/evaluated by the Guide, HOD and faculty
members as per the schedule planned for such Project reviews.
• The candidate has to prepare himself/herself for presenting the progress of
his/her Project work in the Project review in a successful and phased manner, as
each review carries its own weightage of marks.
• There will be two reviews conducted for the Project work Phase-I (ie) in the
Third Semester, namely Zeroth Review and the First Review.
• Subsequently, there will be three reviews namely Second, Third & Fourth (Final /
Model Viva) Reviews in the Project work Phase-II (ie) in the Fourth Semester.
• The Department Head has to prepare a detailed schedule of the Project Reviews
and should be communicated to the candidates accordingly.
• It is mandatory that all candidates should be present for all Project Reviews.
• At the time of Project Review, the candidate has to bring the related soft copy of
his/her presentation in Power Point slide forms and submit a soft & hard copy of
his/her presentation to the Department.

• A Committee will monitor and oversee the conduct of Departmentwise Project
Reviews and submit a report to the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor.
• The Department shall organize an exclusive seminar, so as to make the M.Tech
students to present their Project Work as a paper.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR PROJECT REVIEWS:
1. A Departmentwise Project Coordinator is to be deputed by the concerned Head,
to coordinate the Project work related duties.
2. A detailed schedule of the Project Review should be prepared and to be
communicated to the students and the staff concerned.
3. The Project Coordinator/HOD should allot the internal guide for all the batches.
4. At the time of Project Review, LCD Projector has to be provided and the
candidates will NOT be allowed to follow the ‘Chalk & Talk’ method for
presentation.
5. The Project Coordinator will have to plan for the Project Review as per the
schedule and take steps to copy the details of presentation in the master
computer, available in the room for Project Review presentation.
6. The Project Coordinator/HOD should arrange for taking attendance by getting
signature of the candidates present for the Project Review and submit a copy of
the same to the office of Dean/Engg. & Tech., after retaining a copy in the
Department.
7. The strength of candidates for Project Review should not exceed 15 per day.
8. At the time of Project Review, the concerned Guide, HOD and staff members
who are not engaged themselves in any other academic activities should be
present for the Review for assessing and suggesting the Project Review
presentation by the candidate.
9. At the Zeroth Review, the Project coordinator should collect the details like
Project proposal, Project Title, Name of the Guide, Abstract, Base paper,

Company details etc., and preserve in a printed format after getting duly
authorized by the concerned HOD, Internal Guide and Project coordinator.
10. Each Project Coordinator should allocate a separate file for each Project, which
should have a cover page with the following format:

GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR PROJECT REVIEW PRESENTATION:
POINTS FOR CONSIDERATION FOR PREPARATION OF ZEROTH REVIEW:
The following points must be taken into consideration for presenting in the Zeroth
Review:
1. Title of the Project:
The Title of the Project with the name of the Guide, Proposed company/Industry,
where project is supposed to do, profile of the company, Proposal of the Project,
Methodology and the area of significance with respect to the title should be
presented in brief.
2. Abstract:
A brief overview of the project work is to be presented with details like objectives
of the project, with what information and how the project work will be
accomplished, problem analysis/solving methodology, results that will be
obtained etc. The Abstract should not exceed two pages.
On Zeroth Review the students shall submit the following:
(i) Organization/Company Profile with website Address.
(ii) Acceptance letter from Organization.
(iii) One (or) Two Page Abstract about the Project Work
3. Base Paper:
Base paper related to the title of the Project has to be submitted.
Note: • The Zeroth Review carries 25 marks. All the concerned guides are asked
to be present during the Review.
• Organization profile may be optional.
After conducting the Zeroth Review, the students should be informed whether their
project is Accepted or Rejected.

POINTS FOR CONSIDERATION FOR PREPARATION OF FIRST REVIEW
The following points must be taken into consideration for presenting in First Review:
1. Introduction:
The candidate has to explain the background of the project work and to state
briefly how the project topic was selected. He/she has to describe the problem to
be solved, the research question to be answered, and the hypotheses to be
tested/or the product to be developed etc. Hands on information should be given
on the purpose of the project work, how it will benefit the relevant area towards
the advancement of that area. The details pertaining to the place of work at
which the project work is to be carried out, how this title was evolved by the
organization, which had offered this project work etc., should be presented.
2. Existing System’s Disadvantages:
The candidate has to explain the Existing system’s disadvantages and about the
need for proposed system.
3. Proposed System’s Advantages:
The candidate has to present the advantages of proposed system and how the
work is going to be done.
4. Literature Survey:
The candidate has to present all relevant information collected by him/her about
the field of his/her project work and information on previous research/project
work carried out in this area. This may done by collecting such information from
relevant books, journals, software manuals, Internet, other stated sources and to
be presented it in a logical sequence.
About 25 % of progress should be shown in the First Review.
Note: • The above topics carry 25 marks.
• All the concerned guides are asked to present during the Review.
After conducting the First Review, the marks should be awarded to the Students and it
should be intimated to them.

POINTS FOR CONSIDERATION FOR PREPARATION OF SECOND REVIEW:
The following points must be taken into consideration for presenting in Second Review:
1. Project Proposal for the Final Phase:
The detailed proposal for the second (ie) Final Project Phase has to be
presented.
2. Methodology:
It is expected that the candidate has to briefly describe the proposed
methods/phases, plans, techniques, algorithms, steps, Design, Prototypes,
Installation & Testing that will be used to accomplish his/her Project Work.
3. Status Quo:
The status of project work i.e. state up to which phase the candidate have
completed or percentage of his/her work is completed has to be presented.
About 60 % of progress should be shown in the First Review.
Note: • The Second Review carries 100 marks.
• All the concerned guides are asked to be present during the Review.
After conducting the Second Review, the marks should be awarded to the Students and it should be intimated to them.
POINTS FOR CONSIDERATION FOR PREPARATION OF THIRD REVIEW:
The following points must be taken into consideration for presenting in Third Review:
About 80% of the Project Work should have been completed and to be presented.
Note: • The Third Review carries 100 marks.
• All the concerned guides are asked to be present during the Review.
After conducting the Third Review, the marks should be awarded to Students and it
Should be intimated to them.

POINTS FOR CONSIDERATION FOR PREPARATION OF FOURTH REVIEW:
Full Project work has to be completed and the entire Project presentation has to be
done. The related Documentation works have to be completed and to submit a rough
copy to the guide on the day of the Fourth Review.
After the corrections and approval of the guide, the candidates have to incorporate the
related corrections and take a final print of the Project Work with the number of copies,
informed by the Project Coordinator/HOD. The DEMO of the Project has to be
presented.
The soft copy of the entire presentation has to be submitted by each candidate to the
Department, and the HOD concerned will forward the same to the office of the
Dean/Engg. & Tech.
After getting the signatures of the Guide/HOD, each candidate has to submit the
original Project Report before the stipulated last date of submission.
Note: • The Fourth Review carries 100 marks.
• All the concerned guides are asked to be present during the Review.
After conducting the Fourth Review, the marks should be awarded to Students and it
should be intimated to them.
Totally 350 Marks (50 Marks for Project Phase-I & 300 Marks for Final
Phase) are awarded for the Project Reviews as Internal Marks.

INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CANDIDATES:
1. The candidates should strictly follow the rules and regulations of the University
regarding the conduct of Project Work Review & Viva Examination.
2. The candidates are expected to note the schedule of the Project Review.
3. Request for change of schedule in Project Reviews will not be entertained.
4. All candidates should compulsory be present for all the reviews.
5. The Title of the Project, Name of the guide, Place where the Project is to be
done has to be submitted on the day of the Zeroth Review and once submitted,
changes are not permitted.
6. All the Presentations for the Project Reviews should be done on Powerpoint only.
7. The softcopy has to be given to the concerned Project Coordinator, well in
advance of the commencement of the Project Review.
8. If any candidate is not performing in an effective manner, then he/she may be
asked to reappear for the Project Review within that month.
9. A candidate will be permitted to appear for the Fourth Review, only on successful
completion of Three Project Reviews within the stipulated time.
10. Candidates, who fail to satisfy the aforesaid condition, have to apply for an
extension period of 6 months on remittance of Rs. 500/- towards Fee for
Extension. A candidate is entitled to avail at the most two extensions; after
which he/she has to re-register himself/herself for the Programme on remittance
of Rs. 2000/- towards the fee for re-registration.
11. Paper presentation in a Conference / seminar on a topic related to his/her title of
the project work is mandatory requirement for M.Tech candidate to submit
his/her Project Report, failing which he/she will not be permitted to submit
his/her Project Report .
12. The Final Project report should be submitted well before the last date of
submission. After the last date, his/her Project Report may not be accepted for
evaluation in the Semester Examinations.
