It was a gospel star -studded affair as the likes of Khanyisa, Lusanda, Pumeza, Mfundo Tywaku, Bathobile, including Jouyous Celebration stars Bukiwe, Nobathembu and Siyasanga, graced the show.

And the VIP list included politicians the likes of ANC leaders ANC Nomaindia Mfeketo, Nomvula Mokonyaane, Zou Kota and deputy minister Marius Fransman.

Reverend Mkhabile is the brains behind the Maranath Gospel Show and if this latest offering is anything to go by, his wings are set to fly him higher than the rest.

Popular radio announcers Mam’ Rhweqane and Putco Mafani, including Nomonde Vakalisa , also graced the proceedings.

The latter duo kept the crowds alive with jokes and entertainment as the masters of ceremony.

Traditional leaders also graced the occasion.

All the invited guest artists did not disappoint as the fans ate out of the palm of their hands, feasting on the soothing sounds that sated their souls.

The atmosphere was filled with dancing, joy and high praise.

The host, Mkhabile was his usual self: “I am here to make a statement to Satan and all detractors; that my God is bigger than all the hurdles that life can throw at me”.

Mkhabile said it had been a long journey, but was even more ready for the challenges ahead.

“This show is dedicated to all the women in my life because they are the ones who always cover my back and push me forward to break all limitations…without them I am nothing” he added.

SAVUKA Burial Society was started 21 with the intention of helping other members of the community at the time of death financially and emotionally.

“This is not just a burial society, it is a family. We cry when one of our members is crying and we share the joy when one has something to be joyful to share or an achievement” Said Nombulelo Mtshiliba.

And on Saturday past the above statement proved true with dancing, laughter and good companionship when the organisation celebrated this milestone with a gala event the Eros School in Athlone.

There were strict instructions for members to dress to kill. So that awards were given to the best dressed couple on the occasion.

Winner in the female category Mveli Mngxuma said: “I feel so proud and happy to have won. I feel extra beautiful after being publicly acknowledged for my outfit”.

Umhlobo Wenene FM’s Sis Thoz said she had watched this society grow in front of her eyes from humble beginnings, and it was great to see their members being treated and spoilt like royalty on the occasion.

“As the saying goes; you reap what you sow, and judging by what is happening here, I can see that the rewards are great,” she added.

The society has gained renown for also helping under privileged children, in terms of sponsoring with school, crime prevention measures and community development.

And as part of the social responsibility initiative, the pledged again to sponsor Masimanyane Primary School in Khayelitsha.

“We are happy that we are able to contribute to the community and leave an impact” said Nomfanelo Hobongwana.

CLASS and sophistication was the order of the day during the Tenth Anniversary of the Youth In God Movement held in Khayelitsha recently.

The Youth In God Movement(Yogim) aims to reach out to young people affected by crime, violence and gangsterism.

Crime prevention and reducing the risk spread HIV and AIDS are the backbone of this outfit, the principle being that this is only achievable through Christ.

The movement is the brainchild of husband and wife team Nonceba and Mthuthuzele Mbola, who hold that things have not been easy-going since the day they conceptualized the idea, but they never gave hope.

“But the more things look unattainable, the more it is working” they said.

Mbola added that he has seen tremendous growth from young people since they

started. He has seen some getting married, some becoming businessmen, some have been inspired to get more education and others have gone on to start their own churches.

“I stand with great joy and a thanks giving because of what the Lord has done in this movement,” he said.
