Fa ma Pilgrimage On the 13th of May to

October, Our Lady of Peace Church commemorates the

appearance of Our Lady to the three shepherds; Lucia,

Jacinta, and Francisco, in Fa ma, Portugal. There is a

mass at 7:30 pm, followed by the outdoor procession and

blessing of the sick, inside the church.

Dear Parishioners,

Our Lady of Peace Church & Shrine is privileged to host every year from May to October, the traditional Fatima Pilgrimage. Tomorrow, it will be the second one for this year.

On June 13, 1917, Our Lady of Fatima showed the three little shepherds Her heart “encircled by thorns which pierced it,” and Sister Lucia Marto adds: “We understood that this was the Immaculate Heart of Mary, outraged by the sins of humanity, and seeking reparation.”

Undoubtedly the message of our Lady of Fatima is a loving and sorrowful plea not only to stop offending our Lord but also to offer reparation. Up and down the Message of Fatima we hear of communions of reparations. The Angel on their third and last apparition recommended Bl. Francisco, Jacinta and Sister Lucia: “Take and drink the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, horribly outraged by ungrateful men! Make reparation for their crimes and console your God.” (Third Apparition of the Angel, 1916) Our Lady herself told to sr. Lucia: “I have come to ask reparation.” And the Child Jesus also told her: “Have compassion on the Heart of your Most Holy Mother, covered with thorns, with which ungrateful men pierce it at every moment, and there is no one to make an act of reparation to remove them.” (December 10, 1925)

Fr. Faber, an English convert and spiritual writer says: “There is no time when love pours itself out from the deepest and purest fountains of the heart with more self-abandonment than when the object of our love has been wronged… Hence the love of reparation is a pure, and unselfish, and disinterested love.”

The Magisterium of the Church teaches that communions of reparation are “most pleasing” to our Lord along with “expiatory supplications and prayers, prolonged for a whole hour, which we rightly call Holy Hour.” Sinners, as we are, and laden with many faults, must make satisfaction to God “for our numberless sins, offenses and negligences.” (Pope Pius XI, Misserentissimus Redemptor)

Therefore, I invite all of you, to come to the Fatima Pilgrimage, to participate of the Adoration to the Blessed Sacrament and to offer up your holy communions in reparation for the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of our Blessed Mother.

Bl. Manuel González –the great apostle of the Eucharist– would insist to his parishioners: “I don’t ask you for alms for the poor, neither your help for the sick, nor work for the jobless, nor consolation for the afflicted; I ask you a little bit of your love for Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament,” for the love you profess to our Blessed Mother, to console her broken Immaculate Heart.

Keep in mind that our Lord present in the tabernacle is not there for Himself, but for us: for it is his joy to be with us. He knows that we need to have Him personally near. So if you can, commit yourself to pay frequent visits to our Lord, or maybe to attend Mass during weekdays too; or at least make spiritual communions from wherever you are. And offer it up in reparation for the offenses committed against our Lord and our Lady. It doesn’t take much time, it takes much love...

I offer you this beautiful and short prayer taught by the Angel to the three seers, as a suggested prayer to say during your holy communions in reparation: “Most Holy Trinity -Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – I adore Thee profoundly. I offer Thee the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifferences whereby He is offended. And through the infinite merits of His Most Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of Thee the conversion of poor sinners.”

It was also on June 13 when our Lady said to Sr. Lucia, and she wants to repeat it to us in the depths of our souls: “Don’t lose heart. I will never forsake you. My Immaculate Heart will be your refuge and the way that will lead you to God.” Come!

May God bless you all!
