Dear Parishioners,

Please help us welcome Father Brian Dinkel, IVE as our new pastor here at Our Lady of Peace. Fr. Brian was born and raised in the United States living mostly in the state of Kansas. Among his siblings, one is a religious sister—a Servidora—Servant of the Lord and the Virgin of Matará (SSVM), aka an IVE sister, living in a contemplative monastery in Brooklyn, New York, Sister Mary of the Annunciation. His parents are alive and well living in Kansas where they are active in the local church. After undergraduate college he pursued higher studies for master’s degree in physical therapy. Fr. Brian was ordained three years ago for the IVE. During his time in the seminary he became fluent in Spanish. Since that time he has served as Priest Formator at the seminary, teaching and other various positions. He also helped to oversee pastoral work at St. John the Baptist de la Salle parish which is connected to the seminary in Chillum, Maryland. He has helped with summer oratory here in the past and preached retreats as a priest in the area.

New Mass Intention Guidelines

The Holy Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life. (Lumen gentium, no. 11). It has been tradition in the Church that priests are asked to offer a Holy Mass for the specific intention. Maybe someone in the family is sick, or perhaps you want to remember a special occasion such as a birthday or wedding anniversary, the Holy Mass is a wonderful and most powerful prayer. St. Anselm states: “A single Mass offered for oneself during life may be worth more than a thousand celebrated for the same intention after death.” Here at Our Lady of Peace we are truly blessed to have the Holy Mass celebrated at least 30 times a week with each of those masses holding the intentions of the faithful. In order to accommodate the growing need of mass requests we have adjusted our guidelines listed below. All requests must be made IN PERSON at the Rectory Office and is on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE quarterly basis. Look in the bulletin or social media for an advance notice. This quarter the book will be opening on Tuesday, September 13 and we will be accepting requests for the months of: October, November, and December 2016. New Mass Intention Guidelines: The requestor must be at least 13 years old of age to request a mass. You may come only once a week to request up to two (2) masses. If two masses are requested they

may not occur in the same week. Limit of 25 characters including spaces (for example Mary Smith = 10 characters) per mass request. No changes can be made once the requests have been placed into the calendar. No holds or reservations will be accepted. We will now be accepting credit card donations for mass intention requests.

Q&A’s When can you start making requests for the months of October, November and December 2016? Tuesday, September 13 What is the schedule to make requests? Tuesday, September 13 – Friday, September 16 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM—Closed for lunch from 12-1pm Friday, September 16—Until all masses have been filled 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM—Closed for lunch from 12-1pm No mass intention requests are done on Saturdays & Sundays We truly appreciate your cooperation in helping us make this process work in a fair manner. Thank you! If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Grace in the office at 408-988-4585 or by email at [email protected].
