On August 4th Fr. Lito departed for the Philippines to visit his mother and his homeland. Fr. Rogelio Layug Abadano (Fr. Roger) will assume the position of Parish Administrator for the month of August. Mass days and times will remain the same. Fr. Lito will return on September 7th. His final departure date from St. Peter’s is September 21st. Fr. Lito will become the Pastor at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Virginia Beach.

Father Lito wishes to express his gratitude to all parishioners who made his birthday such a huge

success. Thank you to all who attended, contributed food, set up and cleaned up, and for all the

many birthday wishes and gifts received.

Classes in English as a Second Language will be cancelled this Sunday, August 9th and next Sunday, August 16th. Classes will resume Sunday, August 23rd from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM.

Continued Join Bishop DiLorenzo and experts in Norfolk to talk about “Laudato Si”, Pope Francis’ encyclical on ecology, and how it applies to environmental issues facing the Tidewater, on Tuesday, August 25, at 7 PM Sacred Heart Parish, Norfolk. “Praised Be: How Pope Francis’ Encyclical Speaks to Tidewater’s Looming Environmental Crisis – A Symposium of Church, Military, Scientific and Community Leader” is co-sponsored by the Virginia Catholic Conference, the Diocese of Richmond’s Office of Social Ministry and Catholic Climate Covenant. Register at vacatholic.org. We are looking for an organist, piano player, or guitar player, to play for our weekly 8:00 AM Sunday Mass. Remuneration to be discussed.
