TRANSCRIPT
Retrofit Trench Repair
Composite Engineering’s new Retrofit Trench Repair system has been developed as a cost
effective replacement solution for areas of concrete trench wall damage, as well as curved,
dented and corroded steel trench covers. Trench wall failure caused by concrete reinforcement
corrosion issues can be easily solved without the need for concrete pours, moving existing
trench contents and cabling, or the need for any additional earthing on site. Installation in
damaged areas requires minimal tools, equipment and personnel, with materials light enough
to be carried into site by the installers. The system can be installed in short sections during
ongoing maintenance for minimal disruption to site operations, and has been designed to
improve efficiency and working methods when installing and inspecting cable trench systems.
Why Composite Engineering Retrofit Trench?
Reduction of equipment on site
Minimal site staff required for installation
Electrically and thermally non-conductive
Excellent chemical and corrosion resistance
Unmatched impact resistance
High strength to weight ratio
Material contains active fire retardants
Maintenance free service life
Drop Lids into place
Ready for immediate use
Trim Lids (if required)
Fit Trench Profile
Characteristics Units Test Reference

Retrofit Trench Repair
Benefits of Composite Engineering Retrofit Trench
Reduction of installation time (no formwork or concrete pouring)
Reduction in specialist equipment and tooling on site
No copper required for earthing—material saving
No steel required for reinforcing—eliminates corrosion issues
No specialist concrete coring required for trench penetrations
QA reduction on site
Total site supervision greatly reduced
Solid Top Grating Lids
Composite Engineering’s new Retrofit Trench Repair
system use the lightest, yet strongest lid available
on the market today. Our grating lids are fully
customisable to any width or configuration, and can
be trimmed and modified on-site, without the need
for any hot work permits, or specialised cutting
equipment. Composite Engineering Trench Lids are
light enough to qualify as single-man lifts, satisfying
strict OH&S requirements.
Composite Engineering’s Solid Top Grating lids feature the same
bi-directional load bars as our superior moulded grating, as well
as a gritted top surface that exceeds the Australian Standard’s
requirements for slip resistance (AS4663-2004). Available in
standard colours of Light grey and safety yellow, CE Solid Top
Grating provides the light weight, super-tough material to re-
place aging steel lids across all industries. Load tables for our
most common thickness (41mm) are attached for reference.
