The table of Loadings detailed oppositewas prepared by the British WaterPackage Sewage Treatment PlantFocus Group comprising all majormanufacturers, suppliers and servicecompanies of all types of small wastewater treatment systems.

The Environment Agency, the NorthernIreland Environment Agency and theScottish Environment ProtectionAgency support the use of this code ofpractice.

This table of loadings allows the totaldaily sewage load from properties to becalculated and it is recommended thatall manufacturers and designers shoulduse this table when sizing and designingnon-mains sewage treatment systems.

The flows and loads values givenrepresent current best knowledgewithin the UK but may change with timein line with per capita water use.

The user/purchaser should be madeaware that there is a risk of poorperformance from the equipment if loadsare understated. The accuracy of thedeclared loads is of paramountimportance. expected total load and theflow, considering both peak and totalflow.

Guidance is provided to assist the userto identify the various sources ofsewage, to consider the nature of thesewage to be treated and to make usersaware of issues which may affect treatability and system performance.

The table of loadings may be used todesign all sizes of sewage treatmentsystems serving up to 1000 population.

*Hydraulic flows and BOD loading are based upon British Waters “Flows & Loads” criteria for domestic applications detailed on previous page. All systems must havea fully functional septic tank upstream with an unrestricetd influent from the tank. This is imperative in the performance of this system.
