Imagine, then, Assunta Gore , the only mother ever to a end her child’s canoniza on! In poverty-stricken rural Italy, widowed Assunta tended fields for the Se-renelli family, whose eighteen-year-old son, Alessandro, proposi-
oned her barely twelve-year-old Maria; then, when she resisted, crying, “It is a sin! God forbids it!” he stabbed her fourteen mes. As she lay dying, Maria assured the a ending priest, “Yes, I for-give Alessandro! I want him to be in Paradise with me someday.” Imprisoned, unrepentant, Alessandro changed a er dreaming that a radiant Maria had offered him fourteen lilies. “I’ve kept my promise,” she smiled. “You’ll be here with me someday.” Upon release, he rushed to beg Assunta’s forgiveness. “Jesus has forgiv-en you,” she replied, “my Maria, too. Blessed Sacrament Catholic has an opening for a part-time Bilingual Director of Faith Formation starting, July 2020. The Director is responsible for the overall program of Faith Formation in the parish. Responsibilities include develop-ment of programs, recruitment, formation and supervision of staff and volunteer catechists and engaging parents and students. Other responsibilities include: RCIA Adapted for Children, Adult Faith Formation, VBS, Sacramental Prep, retreats, meetings and events. Candidates must have experience in Theology/Religious Education or a related field and experience in Catechetical ministry, group facilitating, educational methods, and supervision. The success-ful candidate must be able to function as part of the pastoral team. They must be a practicing Catholic in good stand-ing. Candidates must pass Level II background screening check and safe environment.
