Our Vision: At Resurrection Catholic Primary School, we learn passionately, we serve joyfully, we care.

Prayer: A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew Jesus was led by the Spirit out into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. He fasted for forty days and forty

nights, after which he was very hungry, and the tempter came and said to him, ‘If you are the Son of God, tell these

stones to turn into loaves.’ But he replied, ‘Scripture says: “Man does not live on bread alone but on every word that

comes from the mouth of God”.’ The devil then took him to the holy city and made him stand on the parapet of the

Temple. ‘If you are the Son of God,’ he said, ‘throw yourself down; for Scripture says: “He will put you in his angels’

charge, and they will support you on their hands in case you hurt your foot against a stone”.’ Jesus said to him,

‘Scripture also says: “You must not put the Lord your God to the test”.’ Next, taking him to a very high mountain, the

devil showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendour. ‘I will give you all these’, he said, ‘if you fall at

my feet and worship me.’ Then Jesus replied, ‘Be off, Satan! For Scripture says: “You must worship the Lord your

God, and serve him alone”.’ Then the devil left him, and angels appeared and looked after him.

Reflect on the following questions: What are temptations that people in our world encounter?

Who might be the angels who help me when I am tempted to make wrong choices?

Drop-off Zone Please ensure you are using the “Drop-off” zone, i.e. entering via Gate 3 of a morning, as a drop off area only. There is not the opportunity for the driver to get out of the car, hunt for bags and drink bottles in the boot and walk the children across to the path. If you feel your child needs this type of supervision, please park in neighbouring streets and walk them to school, or use the main carpark, via Gate 1. For the sake of smooth traffic flow, there is “No Right Turn” from the Drop-off Zone (Gate 4).

Prep Enrolments 2018 An information night for parents of children ready to start school in 2018 i.e. will turn 5yrs old on or before 30th April 2018, will be held in the school hall on Tuesday 14th March at 7:00pm. WHOLE SCHOOL ATHLETICS CARNIVAL Dear Parents, On Thursday 30th March , as part of our Physical Education Program, all students from Years Prep to 6 will be participating in our Whole School Twilight Athletics Carnival . The students in grades 3, 4, 5 and 6 will be on the Athletics Track itself, whilst the students in grades 1, 2 and Foundation will be participating in activities in the basketball stadium adjacent to the Athletics track. Students will start the school day as normal and then will travel by bus to the Keilor Park Athletics Track, leaving school at 1:30pm. Parents are required to come to the Athletics Track to collect their child/ren at 7pm to take them home. It would also be great if you are able to come down to the track and watch your child/ren participate in their activities. It is a long day so please make sure that your child/ren have enough food to last them. The snacks during the day should be healthy snacks only as unhealthy food does not settle well with so much physical exercise. A sausage sizzle will be available on the day as well for parents and students to have at the event. We would also love as many parent helpers on the day as we can, for both the running of the carnival and the cooking of the sausages. If you are able to help, can you please fill in the form below and return it as soon as possible. If you have an issue with picking up your child/ren from the Athletics track, please contact Mrs Shields or Mr Connors as soon as possible. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Attention: Mrs Shields My Name, as it appears on my Working with Children Check Card, is ______________________________________. PARISH NEWS

Go Make Disciples”

These words are almost the last words Jesus spoke in Matthew’s Gospel and are found in the

nineteenth verse of the twenty-eighth chapter. Meetings were held over the last three months

by the group charged with the responsibility of creating a Parish Vision Statement. After much

discernment the group concluded that our Vision should be “Go Make Disciples”. It becomes the way-

marking sign guiding us in everything we do and is the template for all parish activity. It now has to be

received by you the parishioners.

If the Holy Spirit has guided our decision (which I firmly believe) it will be accepted and “owned”. If it has

not been; it will not be. On your behalf I would like to thank Calvin Alderson, Melanie Apap, Marlene Axiak,

John Connors, Gretal Gonsalves, David Hein and Maryann Krsteski who made up the steering group.

Fr Noel

Breaking Open the Word

Every Monday night during Lent an opportunity exists for parishioners to listen, learn & discuss the

following Sunday’s Gospel. Lent is the opportunity to “go deeper”, to go beyond your present comfort

zone, to listen to Jesus. You are invited to join our RCIA team along with our 2017 candidates at 7pm in the

Community Centre. Proclaimers of the Word are particularly encouraged to participate.

Pilgrim Walk

Our Lenten pilgrim walk this year will be to the Mary MacKillop Heritage Centre 362 Albert Street East

Melbourne (200meters from St Patrick’s Cathedral). Fr Noel will lead the walk that will commence after the

10.30am Mass on Sunday 19 March The centre is being opened specially for us on that day between

4.30pm – 6.30pm. We will be given a tour that will include relics and memorabilia of St Mary of the Cross

MacKillop. The date is important as it is the feast of St Joseph. Mary MacKillop started the Josephite Order.

Someone from the Heritage Centre will lead us in a short prayer service at 5.45pm hat will close out our

“24Hours with the Lord”. Should any parishioner be unable complete the walk or any part of it (a

parishioner may only be able to walk say from Flagstaff Station to the Heritage Centre) they can make their

own way to the Heritage Centre anytime between 4.30pm and 6.30pm. The first of our pilgrims should

arrive around 5pm. Parishioners interested in our planned route may pick up a copy of a map at the Parish

Office.

24 Hours with The Lord

Pope Francis has asked that every parish celebrate “24 Hours with the Lord” during a weekend of Lent. Our

parish will celebrate “24Hours with The Lord” from Saturday evening 18 March commencing with our 6pm

Mass. We will conclude our celebration at the Mary MacKillop Heritage Centre with a prayer service on

Sunday 19 March. During Saturday evening/Sunday morning many opportunities will be offered so

Parishioners can spend some time with The Lord during our “24 Hours with The Lord”. The details are in a

separate notice in this bulletin, also on Facebook and Web www.resurrectionkingspark.org Sufficient to

say that there will be the opportunity for adoration of the Blessed Sacrament for some part of the Saturday

evening/Sunday morning. A sign-up sheet is available at all Masses next weekend and in the Parish Office

during the week, so The Lord will not be left “alone” at any time.

18+ Dinner

There is a dinner for all the 18 -30s in our Community Centre on Wednesday 22 March at 6.30pm. Our

guest speaker will be Brian Bourke the most senior barrister at the Victorian Bar. Brian was defence counsel

for Ronald Ryan; the last person executed in Australia. He has participated in over 60 murder trials. He is

also a practicing Catholic. The hope is that these dinners will be a regular feature of our parish encouraging

young adults to gather over a meal, then have a guest speak on contemporary issues leading into a

discussion on “faith matters” and why faith matters. Should you like an invite or know somebody who may

be interested please contact Fr Noel at the parish office or email him [email protected] Should you

have already received your invitation please remember to send a confirming email ASAP.

New Guidelines

Following meetings of Hospitality Ministers, Proclaimers of the Word, and Special Ministers of Communion

our 2017 guidelines are posted on our Web www.resurrectionkingspark.org and also available at the Parish

Office. All those serving in these ministries are expected to be familiar with the current guidelines.
