This project deals with abending fixing, critical batch monitoring and expediting the process across all the mainframes in Bank of Newyork, Mellon and Pershing

Role and Responsibilities

Fixing all the ABEND jobs across all the regions in Test Plex (SIT, UAT and XAT) and also across Prod Plex

Expediting the jobs as when required across both Test and Production Regions.

Critical Batch monitoring and notifying the testing team about the status of the Critical batch so as to avoid missing the Service Level agreement of the particular critical job stream

Scheduling the job as when required and acknowledging the packages of the developer with the consensus of the manager

Reviewing the JCl thoroughly before moving the job from SIT to UAT or UAT to XAT and so on

Support CA Solve Automation and CA7 administration.

The scope of the project involves to work as a Mainframe consultant in stabilising the project and bringing in new clients to Cognizant.

Role and Responsibilities

Actively participated in a successful Live Disaster Recovery and DR drills BCP. Involved actively in the service transition process Involved in preparation of procedures for the installation and customization some of products, by

referring the corresponding product manuals. CA-OPS/MVS, File Aid, Brightstor Astex, Vantage, SYSVIEW, Unicom were installed

The above products were migrated to Test and Production regions and customized according to the requirement of RBI and their vendors.

Developed sample applications for the demonstration of these tools. The various options of these products were demonstrated to the Client.

Provided Technical support at Serena, USA, for Performance Monitoring Tools

Training Undergone:

Jun 08 – Aug 08 (Application Developer)

During these 3 months I was taught on the application side of mainframes. I was given thorough understanding of JCL, VSAM, COBOL languages. Apart from these I was also taught the basics of DB2 and COBBAT programming. Here the major part of the learning was on the application side. I was also taught the sort tips and some of the tools that are frequently used by the application developer for example (Endevor, Trace master, Insync and so on)
