Compiled and produced the nightly flagship 30 minute news bulletin. Responsible for deciding locally gathered content, assigning reporters, coordinating coverage, editing material, and ensuring the ABC’s Editorial Policies and Code of Conduct were met by employees. Reviewed interstate and international news for inclusion in nightly bulletin as well as coordinating a team of camera operators, journalists, editors and graphic artists in a highly deadline driven environment.

Queensland and the central Brisbane office. The role included staff development and training, improving editorial standards, industrial relations issues and the introduction of significant workplace reform. Responsibilities included managing a multimillion-dollar budget covering salaries and operating expenses for both radio and TV statewide bulletins.

During this time, a breast cancer cluster was uncovered, and my responsibilities broadened to managing staff during this difficult and frightening period. As a result a decision was taken where I arranged and oversaw the complete relocation of the news operations and studios after the ABC abandoned its Toowong headquarters.

Satellite Co-coordinator, Reuters, Tokyo1990Coordinating coverage of events in Asia by camera crews and reporters for use in a daily satellite service for international subscribers. Liaising with satellite customers to ensure Reuters was providing suitable material in acceptable timeframes. Writing scripts to accompany videos and managing staff in Tokyo office.
