Build your digital resume

Building a great resume and portfolio to attract future employers and land your dream job is an important step in building your professional presence on Bloom. Bloom makes it simple to build a professional resume; this activity will take you through the steps of building a resume and submitting it for a professional review from the Bloom team.

What to do: Start building your resume on Bloom by working through each section using your answers on your resume worksheet.

Build your digital resume SummaryYour Summary section is a quick introduction to a future employer which emphasizes why you are the best candidate for the position. This section will also give you a chance to highlight your skills and what you are looking for in a future employer.

Using the words, you have circled from your resume worksheet form a few sentences to complete your summary section, make sure to answer the following questions in your summary section.

What you should include in your summary section:� Who you are and what strengths do you possess? Think of 3-4 professional traits that describe who you are.� What value you will bring to their business? Describe how the skills/traits you possess bring value to their business. � What you are looking for in an employer? These could be things like offering continuing education, tools to build clientele etc.

Experience:� If your work experience has been in unrelated fields that

is ok, show how the work experience you do have translates into skills that will help you in your future position.

� Fill out all experience fields to the best of your ability.� Use the month and year for dates of employment.� Using bullet points under the description can be an easy

way to highlight your responsibilities you held at each position.

Education:� Part of this section may be filled in with your current

school’s information, be sure to complete all fields. � Any prior education should also be added - high

school, previous college experience or trade school information, etc.

Certifications/Accomplishments:

� Any certifications you earn are important to include on your resume.

� Accomplishments can include participating in a contest or community service hours or perfect attendance.

Custom:

� This section allows you to customize a title to include additional information for employers to see. Example: Bilingual: Speak Spanish fluently

Build your digital resume Skills:� You can add the different skills you acquire

during school.

� This is a great place to showcase any skill that you are proficient in and would like to highlight to future employers

Product Knowledge:� Any product knowledge you have received

during school is important to add.

Once you have completed your resume go to Resume Tools at the top of the page and click the “Request Resume Review” button this will submit your resume to the Bloom team. Your resume will be reviewed and any recommendations will be sent back to you for your review.
