Served a humanitarian assignment in Tanzania Africa. Worked in Africa with the Army Corps of Engineers to build a school and a drinking well. Selected for a Military to Military assignment in Okinawa Japan. While in Okinawa, served as an Air Defense Artillery (ADA) platoon leader, learning leadership first hand and gained valuable management skills from the Non-commissioned Officers (NCO’s). Being 20 yrs old, relating mostly to the enlisted and junior NCO’s. It was humbling that they valued teaching me how to be a good Officer.
