IF YOU WERE TO READ A MUSIC MAGAZINE, WHAT MAGAZINE WOULD YOU

READ AND WHY?

-Clash

-Anything that isn’t too long and boring, but something that is quite fun and

interesting

-I don’t know because I have no idea what music magazines are available.

-I wouldn’t

-Ummmm I don’t know any music magazines…… Top of the pops???

Because its for my age group

-I would choose one with interesting band information and great quality

pictures

-I don’t really know any names, but I’d choose to read it if there was a good

band on the front.

-NME or VIBE as this has the artists I am most interested in

-Entertainment weekly because it talks about pop music

-Q magazine because it has a range of styles in it

-NME, it’s the only music magazine I know but if I found one that has bands

I like in it, then I would buy that one.

-One about metal, with a variety of bands

WHAT DO YOU USUALLY LOOK FOR IN A MUSIC

MAGAZINE?

-Eye catching colour scheme, POSSIBLY a competition, reviews of the latest music in

my favourite genres, movie reviews aswell, recommended music (track of the day type

thing), music events, reviews

-Some interesting things to read free goodies? Pretty pictures?

-Nothing, because I never read them.

-Nothing

-Them quizzes that you ask a question in a bubble and it’s usually yes or no and your

answer will send you down a line to another question you know the one im on about

also I like embarrassing stories lol

-Famous singers

-Reliable information, interesting questions and answers, aswell as high standard

photos

-Interviews or photos of my favourite bands

-Interesting interviews but not too much writing

-It to cover up to date information, and be focused on one type of music genre

-Something relevant to music and relevant to the genre.

-A good range of different styles of music, the top 40 and information about different

artists.

-Pretty colours, and featuring good groups!

-Bands I like, interviews, free stuff eg posters cd etc.

-Good pictures and questions

-A range of artists

-Info on the artist

-Posters and pictures

-Stuff to do with music

Page 11: Results of questionnaire

WHAT SHOULD BE AVOIDED WHEN MAKING A MUSIC

MAGAZINE?

-Too bright colours that hurt the eyes e.g. neon colours, bright block colours etc…- There shouldn’t

be too much information on the page, there should be a good ratio of pictures to words, this makes it

less intimidating – fonts and backgrounds should be good contrasting colours e.g. black on white not

grey on black.

-Gossips about celebrities maybe?

-Mixing of different genres, e.g. Heavy Metal and Classical.

-Nothing.

-Advertisements cause theyre so boring.

-Unpopular bands

-Boring front cover (makes bad impression) vague details on music

-Gimp bands on the front. Loads of ads. Stupid clashing colours, but not really dull and boring.

- Asking artists the same types of questions that they always get asked as another magazine would

have already written about this.

-It to be repetitive

-Too many fonts, disproportioned images and pixelated images

-Having just one style of music that features in the whole magazine

-Bands that wear scary masks!

-Writing it about really famous artists that all the other magazines have ( being the same) eg bieber

or one direction!

-Expensive and thick magazine

-No cheesy artists!

-Too much writing

-Talking about the singers life rather than talking about music

-Too much writing, bad colour scheme, too many fonts
