Community Announcements "Make a Joyful Song: Celebrating the Legacy of Walter Jost" is the theme of the Newton Chorale’s 40th season concert today, 6:30 PM at Bethel College Mennonite Church in North Newton. Director Renae Schmidt Peters has included many of Jost’s favorite works, including Harold Moyer’s "Songs of Faith." Admission is free with an offering taken to help cover concert expenses. Bethel College wind ensemble and Bethel College philharmonia orchestra joint concert is today, 8:00 PM, in Memorial Hall. Featuring music by Stucky, Gilmore, Mahler, Buxtehude and Wagner, with special guest Soyoun Chun, voice. NAMI Mid Kansas is a family-to-family series of 12 weekly classes structured to help loved ones and caregivers understand and support individuals with serious mental

Inmate Floyd, along with volunteer singers from the surrounding area, sang in the Prison Arts Chorus at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility from 2002 to 2007. Youth Volunteer Weekend! Camp Mennoscah is offering a short weekend of worship, service, fellowship, and fun for those in grades 7-12 on March 10-11. On Saturday, March 18, 2017, the Dyck Arboretum of the Plains in Hesston will host its annual spring educational symposium on the theme of Living the Land Ethic in Kansas. The goals of the symposium are to introduce the concept of 20th century conservationist Aldo Leopold’s Land Ethic, to learn more about the elemental prairie resources that shape our Kansas economy and identity, to find inspiration from the

practitioners who steward our Kansas natural and human resources, and to hear a message of hope for how to be better stewards in the future. The cost of registration is $40 for Dyck Arboretum members and $50 for non-members for those who register by March 10 and includes a full day of presentations, breakfast, and lunch. After March 10, registration will increase to $50 for members and $60 for non-members. RSVP by March 15 to be included in the meal count. Early registration for the Mennonite Church USA Convention 2017 has been extended to March 23! Early Registration includes a T-shirt, I-Ride trolley pass, servant project and a meal card. Rooted and Grounded: A conference on land and Christian discipleship—April 20–22 at Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary, Elkhart, Indiana. Sunday School—188 Offering: Last week’s offering for Local Missions was $6,573. The offering for March 12 is for Local Mission. Today the buckets will be passed during the offering time to collect loose change for the relief work of Mennonite Central Committee (MCC). The buckets will be passed each week until the MCC Sale on April 7 and 8. Pastor Jaime Cazares’ ordination is today at First Mennonite Church—3:00 PM, with a reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall. All are welcome to attend! In the court area there are cards for you to write a note in and/or simply sign as a blessing to Pastor Jaime. Children’s Sunday School offering project completed last Sunday raised $195.10 to assist Camp Mennoscah in replacing playground equipment (formerly The Whale). School kits for MCC is the current children’s offering project which began this morning. Mark your calendars—Guys’ Grubfast will be on Saturday, March 18, 8:30 AM. Location will be announced soon. The Property Committee needs your help to maintain our facility! There are several projects that need completing, and we want you to have the opportunity to help. We need help with pruning trees and bushes around the church building, painting the walls and ceiling in the balcony classroom, and installing pipe insulation and replacing a few ceiling tiles in the Jr. High room.
