Opening Prayer:O LORD, thank You for bringing us here. We know You care about us. We know You want to teach us Your way. Please help us understand Your Word. Please enable us to hear Scripture clearly through the two Bible verses on 1 Timothy. In Jesus we pray. Amen.

Message:The two Bible verses I read before the opening prayer for today’s family message, Respect Your Elders, show us how to talk to our elders, both men and women (church brothers and sisters), about problems correctly.

When an older Man makes a Mistake1 Never speak harshly to an older man, but appeal to him respectfully as you would to your own father… (1 Ti 5:1, NLT)

The Bible (Paul says to Timothy) says that even when an older man (church brother) makes a mistake, you should talk to him respectfully. That means you must not throw a tantrum, yell, or slam the door at him. You tell him very politely that he has made a mistake, ask him politely to hear what’s on your mind. Remember to be respectful.

When Old Women make a Mistake2 Treat older women as you would your mother… (1 Ti 5:1-2, NLT)

The Bible (Paul) also says that even when older women (church sisters) make a mistake, you should treat them as if they were your mother. You must talk to them patiently, with a tender heart, and listen to them tentatively.

When younger Men or Women make a MistakeAlthough today’s message did not mention about younger men or women, I encourage everyone to re-read the two verses over the course of next week—the verses also talk about what to do in those situations too. Here’s a challenge:

Think about what to do when your peer makes a mistake.

Closing PrayerLORD, thank you for today’s message. Please help us meditate on these two verses so that we could understand it better, so that we could understand the Scripture behind these verse better. You are our Heavenly Father, we praise You, we love You because Your first love us. In the name of our Messiah, Christ Jesus. Amen.
