BE CONSIDERATE: Always be aware of &amp; honor others rights &amp; feelings. BE ATTENTIVE: Be ready to learn from coaches, officials &amp; other contestants. BE ENCOURAGING: Demonstrate concern for the growth &amp; development of all others. BE APPRECIATIVE: Value the guidance of supportive adult &amp; student leaders. </p><p>Problem Solving: Respect Summary: The challenge is to put the numbers in a 3x3 grid so that any line of three numbers in the grid equals the same amount. Equipment: 9 pads approximately 8x10. Each pad is consecutively numbered from 1 to 9. Time: 13 minutes total </p><p>Brief the group: 2 minutes </p><p>Exercise: 8 minutes </p><p>Reflection: 3 minutes </p><p> Challenge Represents: Trying to work with others and respecting their opinions and effort to accomplish the task. Directions: </p><p> Each person is given one number pad. The pads go from 1 to 9. If you have less than 9 people, randomly distribute the </p><p>additional pads. If you have more than 9 people, people without pads can still help problem solve. </p><p> People with number pads must hold the pad the entire game. Facilitator Notes: </p><p> You may give hints. One hint is that the middle number is 5. A second hint is that the three numbers add up to 15. </p><p> Answer: </p><p>8 1 6 </p><p>3 5 7 </p><p>4 9 2 Processing the Ideas: </p><p> Discuss the importance of respect: treating others the way you want to be treated. How did this group do in </p><p>demonstrating respect to all members of the team as they tried to make it all add up? </p><p> How does this relate to a team setting? (Miscommunication, frustration, time management, etc) </p><p> How will RESPECT look on your team? Identify 3. Refer to Respect checklist. </p><p> One team member writes and reports later </p></li></ul>
