TRANSIT - April 2009
6. Summary and Conclusion
The current centralized and ‘entrepreneurial’ model for public transport is not working
There is a need for an Independent Public Transport Authority to regulate and govern public transport
Public Transport Planning must be coordinated with the Local and State Government
Quick wins in public transport can come with State and Local government support
With proper organization and management costs can be kept low while the benefits will be very high
