This house is located in the Sanchich township in the north of Taiwan. To the west side is the Taiwan Straight, and it also neighbors with Shimen District, Jinshan District, Tamsui District, and has a boundary, Datun Mountain, with Beitou District. With the 101 highway crossing this district, traffic is convenient. The unique terrain feature is rock and sand mixed shore, which has eroded and accumulated; the wide intertidal zone has algal reef which is also called by people as “coral stone.”

Because Datun Mountain is in the south east, it can’t stop wind blowing; the weather in this district is cold and humid in winter and hot and dry in summer. Recent years, few coffee store and restaurants have opened, many artists moved into this district, and more and more people want to visit. On the other side, the government transforming agricultural land into tourist ranches.

Site

This house is designed for a four-member family. They really enjoy weekends with friends and family. Sometimes they have visitors stay one or two nights. The father always busy during week days; the mom likes cooking, baking, and painting. Daughter is studying in other city, and she only comes home on weekends; the son is still in high school. He plans to study in the university near home.

Chosen materials have clear grains. They will make people feel natural without bringing in trees and stones. I try to bring the feeling of the ocean so the color also uses natural colors.

Materials

Furniture is chosen with simple and modern style. To bring the feeling of the ocean, I chose furniture with simple structure, modern style, and most of it has bright color, such as white and light brown. Some dark color pieces of furniture are chosen for balancing the spaces color tone.
