REFRESH OPTIVE® Advanced Preservative-Free is the latest innovation in Allergan’s extensive Dry Eye management portfolio. This over-the-counter, lipid-enhanced tear features the same formula as REFRESH OPTIVE® Advanced without the use of a preservative. Its triple-action formula works on all 3 layers of the tear film to relieve Dry Eye symptoms:

1. Stabilizes lipid layer/reduces tear evaporation

2. Hydrates aqueous layer

3. Lubricates and protects mucin layer, while also protecting epithelial cells from hypertonic stress

REFRESH OPTIVE® Advanced Preservative-Free is stable in the vial but the lipid releases when

mixed with salts found in human tears.1 The resulting benefits are low viscosity and optimized lipid content overall, giving product clarity and comfort.1-3 And because the formula remains stable, there’s no shaking required prior to use.1

“REFRESH OPTIVE® Advanced Preservative-Free is a lipid-enhanced tear that offers the comfort of an aqueous tear, but works layer by layer to stabilize the tear film, delivering enough lipid to relieve symptoms without causing a lot of blur. By stabilizing the lipid layer, tear evaporation is reduced,” said Joseph Vehige, OD, Allergan Senior Director, Consumer Eye Care Research and Development.

Whether your patients use an artificial tear with Dry Eye prescription therapies or without, recommend REFRESH OPTIVE® Advanced.

Allergan Introduces VIEW (Visionary Insights for Eye Care Women) in AtlantaAllergan recognizes the important role female optometrists play within the eye care community. As part of the Allergan VIEW (Visionary Insights for Eye Care Women) program, a special dinner event was held in Atlanta, GA, to give women an opportunity to network, learn, and exchange ideas.

This event, “Enhancing the Role of the Female Optometrist in Today’s Practice Environment,” featured Allergan Eye Care Business Advisor Karen Fallon-Scarcliff; Dori M. Carlson OD, FAAO; April L. Jasper OD, FAAO; Katherine M. Mastrota MS, OD, FAAO; and Louise A. Sclafani OD, FAAO, in a panel discussion about this exciting time for female eye care practitioners.

“Thanks to the Allergan VIEW program, the Review Women in Optometry, and the Women of Vision organization, we now have a vehicle to express our thoughts and share issues that affect so many of us. The VIEW forum held in Atlanta was quite impressive and attracted so many different types of practitioners! I enjoyed hearing the anecdotes from my colleagues with whom I shared the podium, but I also learned so much from the attendees as they asked poignant questions and actively participated in this lively discussion. I encourage you to join a VIEW session when one comes to you!” said Dr. Sclafani.

This well-attended event covered current trends in eye care, finding a work/life balance, and running an efficient practice. With inspiring speakers and attendees alike, this event was an early highlight of 2013.

We hope to see you at our next VIEW event! Register online at www.OptometrysMeeting.org,using event code 0175.
