Movie 1 – “My sister’s keeper”

Usually, drama movies include life story and at the opening sequence, there are represented different objects, which refer to the idea of the movie. Moreover, sometimes there are photos or movies, which tell the story of the characters before what we are going to see In the movie.

CAMERAWORK

• Close-up shots

• Medium shots

• Long shots

Usually, drama movies include this type of shots, because in this way the audience can see character’s emotions (close-up shots), their behaviour and movements with some detailes (medium shots) and the environment, in which they are presented (long shots).

SOUND

• Slow music

• Laughing

• Voice

Usually, drama movies include slow music at the opening sequence, which influences dramatically on the audience. Moreover, the audience can often see movies, which start with a voice of one of the key characters, telling their story, expressing their feelings or even saying their secrets.

EDITING

In this opening sequence, there is lots of montage of small movie with different quality, which shows that they are memories or family old movies. There are scenes, where almost nothing is clear to be seen, which emphasises the dramatic unsureness of the characters. Moreover, during the voice, which is telling the story, the scenes are moving sensible and there are parts, which even describes visually about processes, for which the audience is told.

Movie 2 – “Shawshank Redemption”

• Engraved titles and images, which emphasised the place where the action is going to be

• Black and white. Colors emphasised the dramatic storyline.

• There is £ in the title of “Shawshank”, which represents that money are a factor in the movie and it is one of the themes

The idea of this opening sequences is to present the characters via symbolic way, based on the story of the movie. The beginning of the movie doesn’t show anything from the prop.
