Appointments

Greg Morrow, PhD, has been appointed as the first holder of the Parker Professorship in Metropolitan Growth and Change. The Parker Professorship is a unique position, fully funded by the Oak Foundation, focused on addressing current and pressing community environment and social issues related to metropolitan growth and change. As such, the position sits at the cross-roads of urban design and planning, and real estate development. Hence, it is a joint position co-located in the Haskayne School of Business and the Faculty of Environmental Design. The Parker Professor will teach one course for each of business and environmental design, and will provide research and community outreach opportunities in conjunction with the activities of the Westman Centre for Real Estate Studies. The position is for a five-year term.

Dr. Morrow has a PhD in Urban Planning & Development from UCLA, a Master’s in City Planning from MIT, and a Bachelor of Architecture from McGill. While in California, he also was active in the real estate development industry as Principal of Morrow Olson Development. He has also held several positions with architecture firms, include Moshe Safdie & Associates.

The Healthcare Operational Excellence (HOPE) Laboratory is featured in the Biomedical Engineering Research Strategy document as part of the Optimized Health Care System Performance “critical emerging research theme”. Sherry Weaver and Diane Bischak from OSCM are among a group of university researchers who worked hard for operations management and engineering to be included within this research theme.
