Introduction and Rationale

Self-Help Group is a small voluntary association of poor people preferably from the same socio-economic back

drop.

The micro-credit given to them makes them enterprising; it can be all

women group, all-men group or even a mixed group.

Entrepreneurship has transformed many entrepreneurs into successful

business persons and generated income for rural communities.

Self-help empowers its participants more so than other externally directed

or implemented programmes.

Compatibility of self-help with cost-reduction strategies both in terms of

material costs and costs to the prevailing social and economic

structure.

Plenty of entrepreneurship activities done with the help of Self Help

Groups.
