Researching waterTask ? in Erasmus+ - project

In our research we compare four different kinds of

water 1. Tap water

2. Lake water from central Finland

3. River water from capital area4. Sea water from Baltic Sea

In this research you need:

Clear plastic/glass cups

White paper and pen

Indicator paper for pH-tests

1. SmellSmell all of your water samples

How does it smell?

How strong is the smell?

Find out what are the reasons for smell ( eutrophication, salty/no salt etc, concentration of oxygen, soil)

2. Color

Place your water cup above the white paper.

Look at the paper through water.

What is the color of water?

Is the color light or dark?

Find out what are the reasons for different color? (humus)

3. The clarity

Draw a black cross (0,5cm*0,5cm) on white paper.

Place your water cup above the cross.

Clarity of water?

What affects the clarity of water?

4. Acid

Hold indicator paper in water.

Compare the color of your paper to colors in packet.

What are the reasons for different pH?
