Special Address

Research and Analysis wing has organized a special address on “Managing Quality in higher

education” by Dr.Bhimaraya Metri, Director, IIM, Trichy on 9th August, 2018, at 11.00am at the

NAAC conference hall. Prof. A.N.Rai, former Director, NAAC was the guest of honour. Dr.S.

C.Sharma, Director, NAAC, presided over the function.

Dr.Metri, in his talk, highlighted that, Quality Management has different dimensions of quality

as perceived by internal as well as external stake holders. It is the passion that makes an

Individual to achieve something unique. Applied research is very important and the research

implications should help in building the brand name using local resources.

Prof. A.N. Rai, Former Director, NAAC and chief guest spoke on the role of internal and external

parameters for quality management. To begin with, it is the internal parameter that initiates

quality. Academic ambiance and enrolment is more in private sector. There is a need for

Quality, functions and support system to go cohesively within the institutions.

Prof. S.C. Sharma Director, NAAC emphasized more on the need for developing quality in higher

education and also in research process.

Dr Jagannath Patil, Adviser, NAAC welcomed the distinguished guests and Dr. Wahidul Hasan,

senior. C.P.O.NAAC, proposed the vote of thanks.

MOU with IIM, Trichy

Research and Analysis Wing of NAAC had initiated collaboration with IIM, Tiruchirappalli.

Accordingly there was a MoU signing ceremony on 30th August, 2018, at 3.00pm at the NAAC

conference hall. Dr. Bhimaraya Metri, Director, IIM-Trichy was the guest of honour and sign the

MoU. Dr. S. C. Sharma, Director, NAAC signed the MoU on behalf of the NAAC. This event is an

important mile stone in the history of NAAC. Dr. Metri, in his speech highlighted the significance

of research collaboration and said that, “it will be a new era for quality management in higher

education. India has a brand name in quality management system. Hence, much scope is there

for visual transformation and big data analytics”. Dr Sharma emphasized the need for using

more scientific and mathematical models in research so as to meet the challenges of Quality

and research in higher education.

Dr. Wahidul Hasan, senior C.P.O, and convener of the Research and Analysis wing

welcomed the Guests and NAAC officials. Dr. Madhukar, Adviser, NAAC, Introduced the guests

for the august body. Dr. Jagannath Patil, Adviser, NAAC, gave brief presentation with respect to

the significance of MoU.

Dr.S. Srikanta Swamy, Academic Consultant, Research and Analysis wing, NAAC, proposed the

vote of thanks.
