Purpose and Authority
• The International Committee has the responsibility and authority to address issues that:and authority to address issues that:– affect travel between the U.S., Canada and Mexico; and
– arise as a result of registering in one country yet operating in another country.
• The purpose of the committee is:– to provide a forum within the IRP community on cross-border
issues,
– represent the IRP on these issues to outside entities,

• Texas has 27 active IRP accounts reporting 2,371,817 non-prorated miles in Mexico for Registration Year 2009. The reported distance for 2010 is 2,636,822

• The Directorate of Federal Motor Carriers has centers in Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo Leon and Tamaulipas.
• Mexico has specific registration requirements similar to those in the US and Canada.
• Cabotage is not allowed in Mexico.
