Cinematography • One way in which cinematography helps us

analyse this extract is at the beginning of the scene the women is high up, in a digger and all the men shown before and after this have been lower too the ground, this shows could represent that the women have more authority than the men do, this heavily challenges the stereotype as it is usually the other way round

Cinematography 2

• Another way that cinematography helps us analyse this piece of video is that in the action scenes that the women are in the camera moves very quickly and also has quick cuts, this makes the action scenes with women in seem a lot more dramatic

Sound

• The sound in the first scene is the dialogue of a women who is angry and upset, this shows that the women is very emotional, this could be seen as very stereotypical as this is what is often portrayed in the media

Sound 2

• Another way sound develops are analysis of gender is that when stuck in the hole the man whimpers away from the sabre tooth tiger, this is very un-stereotypical as it is often portrayed in media that men are strong and brave.

Editing

• The main drama in the scene comes from the man being attacked by the sabre tooth tiger and running away, this shows that he was cowering away and not being brave, this is not stereotypical due to the fact that him being the lead role he should be brave.

Editing 2

• This shot is very stereotypical as it shows a man using his survivability skills and bravery as he is sliding down a zip line by his belt with a sabre tooth tiger (edited in) attacking him. This is stereotypical as it goes along with the representation that men should be brave and forward thinking.

Mise-en-scene

• The clothes that this man is wearing could be seen as not stereotypical of a man as he is not showing off his body and is not wearing typical manly clothes, this could represent him as being less manly, as other men who are doing more “manly” things are wearing a tight t-shirt.

Mise-en-scene 2

• In this scene the women is seen as wearing very stereotypical clothes as she maybe seen as wearing clothes that represent her as a sex symbol, however it may be seen as that as a women she is allowed to wear what she wants, this would represent her as powerful, and strong
