Report:

Gujarat Technological University initiated GT Motorsports – A Formula Student Team to represent

GTU in National Level Competitions with an aim to provide practical knowledge to the students

from every college affiliated to GTU in 2014. Till date GT Motorsports has participated in 2

competitions namely Formula Student India 2015 and SUPRA SAEINDIA 2016 held at Kari Motor

Speedway, Coimbatore and Madras Motor Racetrack, Chennai respectively. The present team is

prepared to participate in the upcoming competition Formula Student India 2016 which is to be held

at Buddh International Circuit, Greater Noida, UP.

Unveiling of the present Formula Student Car GTM – 16 was organized by Gujarat Technological

University on 12th

January, 2016 at B-0 Conference Hall, Gujarat Technological University,

Vishwakarma Government Engineering College Campus, Chandkheda, Ahmedabad.

The GTM-16 Formula Student Race Car which had to be unveiled was kept on the stage amidst Spot

lights focusing on the Car covered under a Large Royal Blue cloth.


The event was followed by the following practises, where initially, breakfast was arranged for all the

guests present in the event. After the breakfast, the Principals/Directors, Head of Department mainly

Mechanical and Automobile Department, Faculty Advisors of various GTU affiliated Colleges along

with the Parents of Team Members of GT Motorsports as well as the Media persons were present to

capture the event, gathered in hall.

The event made its auspicious beginning with the Lighting of Lamp by Honourable Vice-Chancellor

Dr.Akshai Aggarwal, Registrar Dr. J. C. Lilani, Dr. N. M. Bhatt (Dean, Master of Engineering

Department, GTU & Director of Gandhinagar Institute of Technology), Assistant Prof.Jignasha

Acharya and GT Motorsports Team Captain Mr.Devak Bhardwaj.


Followed by was an Introductory Presentation of GT Motorsports comprising details of the Event

where GTMS participates, Teams performances in the past events and their Future Goals. A glimpse

of the event was presented in a video to the audience in order to understand the procedure of the

event.

After the Introductory Presentation was summoned, Honourable Vice-Chancellor Dr.Akshai

Aggarwal was invited on the stage to Unveil the GTM – 16. All the Dignitaries present in the Hall

accompanied by the Team Members of GTMS unveiled the GTM-16. Media persons were busy

clicking the photos of the event.


After the unveil, Honourable Vice-Chancellor Dr.Akshai Aggarwal spoke a few words

congratulating the GT Motorsports team for their achievement and gave the synopsis over the future

tasks, those are to be performed by GTMS. Registrar of GTU, Dr. J. C. Lilani followed the queue of

speech post Honourable Vice-Chancellor Dr.Akshai Aggarwal and praised the GT Motorsports team.

Few others who followed the list of Addressors were Assistant Prof. Jignasha Acharya, Head of

Department, Automobile Engineering Dept., A. D. Patel Institute of Technology, Dr.Sudhir Gupte

and Faculty Advisor of Team GT Motorsports, Prof. Mazar A. Shaikh, who guided the students with

some brief technical details of the car and some details which would help them up for the success in

the event.


During the event, Mrs.Shakuntala A. Aggarwal, wife of Honorable Vice-Chancellor, presented all

the team members of GTMS with a Token of Love, having been impressed by the work of students.


After all the speeches, Media persons gathered around Honourable Vice-Chancellor Dr.Akshai

Aggarwal and interviewed him towards the achievement of GTMS and future targets of Gujarat

Technological University. Team Captain Mr.Devak Bhardwaj was then interviewed to gather some

technical details of the car and other details. Lastly, Driver of the Car Mr.Harshil Vasani was

interviewed as well for the experience of driving an own made car and mind-set for the upcoming

event.

The event concluded with the Vote of Thanks addressed towards all the participants and guests

present in the event. Group photos of the team along with dignitaries and guests present in the event

were clicked and the guests were directed towards the location where Lunch arrangements were

made.
