Report on Celebrations of Environment Week in MCL from 1st June to 5th June

2016- Final Day Function on World Environment Day 5th June

Environment Week was observed in MCL, HQ as well as All Areas and Projects of

MCL which concluded on 5th June 2016, the World Environment Day. Various

Awareness Programmes were undertaken across the Company to sensitize the

people, specially school children, ladies, employees, contractual workers, peripheral

people etc, towards the critical environmental issues and how to contribute towards

its betterment.

A series of programmes were organised to spread awareness on various aspects

and need of environment protection.

The celebrations begun on 1st June 2016 with Painting Completion in forenoon both

at Jagruti Vihar and Anand Vihar followed by Speech Competition in different groups

and Quiz Competitions for 3 groups in the evening at Jagruti Vihar, Auditorium. On

2nd June Essay Completion was held in forenoon both at Jagruti Vihar and Anand

Vihar followed by Poetry Recitation, Song and Instrumental Competition on

Environment Theme in different groups in the evening at Jagruti Vihar, Auditorium

Rangoli completion was organized on 3rd June forenoon and in the Evening Cycle

Race Competition was organized in 5 Groups for the first time and right from 6 year

old children, girls, ladies and employees participated with full zeal and enthusiasm

despite adverse weather condition. After Cycle Race, Photography Competition was

organized in diffrent groups On 4th June “Best out of Waste” competition was held

and in the evening Fancy Dress and Dance Competition was organized in differentand in the evening Fancy Dress and Dance Competition was organized in different

groups.

All the competitions and Environment Awareness Campaign in MCL, HQ were

conducted by Environment Department with active guidance and support of Jagruti

Mahila Mandal. OECS, Sambalpur University also extended help and co-operation

during the events.

On World Environment Day 5th June 2016 a Rally was organized from Anand Vihar

to DAV School through Kirba Village from 6 AM to 7.30 AM. A Poster was released

on this occasion in DAV School, Anand Vihar by President Jagruti Mahila Mandal,

Dr. Nisha Thakur on the subject "Rain Water Harvesting", which will be displayed in

all DAV Schools run by MCL and also in all Area Offices and Project Offices. At

10.30 AM Environmental Flag was hoisted by Shri A.K.Jha, CMD, MCL in presence

of Director Technical(Operation) Shri A.K.Tiwary, CVO, MCL Shri Deepak

Srivastava,I.F.S., Director Technical (P&P), Shri J.P.Singh, Director (Finance) Shri

K.K.Parida, Director (Personnel), Shri L.N.Mishra and all the GMs/HODs of MCL.

After Flag Hoisting, Oath Taking ceremony was observed for commitment of MCL

towards Environmental Protection and which was followed by Reading of Chairman

CIL’s Message on World Environment Day and finally Plantation by the CMD, CVO

and all Directors.

In the evening closing ceremony was organized in Jagruti Vihar, Auditorium from

7 PM to 11 PM. A brief Report was presented for the Environment Week by GM,

Environment, Shri R.K.Shrivastava which was followed by a Video Report

covering all the events. Speeches were delivered by D(T/P&P),CVO, D(T/Oprn),

President Jagruti Mahila Mandal and CMD, MCL on this occasion which was

followed by Cultural Programme and Prize Distribution to the winners of 13 nos of

competitions held amongst different groups. Special Prize of Rs. 10,000 was

announced from CMD, MCL to Ms Tamman Das for presenting a mind blowing

dance item on deforestation and its consequences. Programme was conducted

by Ms Sujatha A.M. and Dr. Shambhu Jha. Vote of thanks was proposed by Ms

Shrvya Lenka.

President Jagruti Mahila Mandal, Dr. Nisha Thakur and Vice Presidents Smt.

Anita Tiwari, Dr. Richa Srivastava and Smt. Paramjeet Kaur were actively

involved in all the events conducted and they also gave away the prizes to the

winners of the competitions during Final Day Function on World Environment Day

5th June 2016.

This year in recognition for special work done for Environment, GM , Bharatpur

Area, Shri M.S.Temurnikar received Special Recognition Award for developing

Medicinal Garden on the OB dump of Ananta OCP. The Trophy and Certificate

was given away by CMD, MCL Shri A.K.Jha.
