REPORT FROM YOUR ST. SAVA CATHEDRAL BOARD – JANUARY 29, 2017 Mir Bozi, Hristos se Rodi! Vaistinu se rodi! Christ is Born! Indeed He is Born! SAVINDAN CELEBRATION - ANOTHER BIG SUCCESS Our parish’s annual Savindan Celebration, honoring our Patron Saint, Sveti Sava, was another huge success thanks to so many of our parishioners and their children. On Saturday members of Loyal Order, along with other volunteers, set up the gym with close to 50 tables and 600 chairs, and many of our Sunday School children were there to help put table cloths, silverware and other items on the tables. Sunday’s festivities began with a combined Divine Liturgy celebrated by his Grace Bishop Longin, with responses sung by the joined choirs of Stevan Sijacki and our Liturgical singers, culminating in the traditional banquet and program featuring children from our Church School program, St. Sava Orthodox School and Sumadija. As always, the event was made possible and truly special by all those who helped – from the setup on Saturday to Sunday’s festivities. Special thanks go to Dara Sever and her kitchen staff who planned, shopped for and prepared the wonderful meal; Diane Markovina for her organization of the banquet and program; Steve Petrovich and Cedo Kabic for their excellent work on the sound system; the Parochial School PTO for decorating the tables, and all the other generous folks too numerous to mention. We also must thank the teachers, students of both schools and directors and dancers of Sumadija. Once again we were amazed at how quickly the hall was cleaned up, the tables and chairs put away, both kitchens cleaned - all within an hour of the end of the program. The spirit in which so many of you helped was truly something wonderful to experience.

PTOfordecoratingthetables,andalltheothergenerousfolkstoonumeroustomention.Wealsomustthanktheteachers,studentsofbothschoolsanddirectorsand

dancersofSumadija.Onceagainwewereamazedathowquicklythehallwascleanedup,thetablesandchairsputaway,bothkitchenscleaned-allwithinanhouroftheendoftheprogram.Thespiritinwhichsomanyofyouhelpedwastrulysomethingwonderfultoexperience.
