REPORT FROM ELDERS, DEACONS AND STAFF Jesus made a promise to build His church. And even though much of 2020 has been different, we rejoice that God is at work changing lives through local churches like Calvary. Back in March, when our worship services transitioned to online only, our team did a great job of adjusting. For the first few months of online only, we averaged over 3,000 people engaging with our services on a weekly basis, including many people who had never before attended Calvary. When we regathered at Calvary in late June, we continued to average well over 2,000 online attenders. For most people, engaging online can’t ever replace gathering in person, but it is a meaningful and effective way to stay connected. Our immediate concern back in March was staying connected with the people of Calvary Church. Many continued to live out our value of Growing With God’s People through their small group, ABF, support group, ministry area, etc. You did a great job of being the church to one another. So our attention turned to those who were not as connected. We redeployed our staff, and in the span of several weeks, we called and connected with over 1,500 households. Our Calvary Care Ministry (food and clothing) offered a drive-up food pick-up. Some 60 new volunteers stepped up to help make this possible. During the month of April, we served 327 individuals of which 71 were new to the food bank. We are now back to our regular operating procedures and we have added 20 additional families to the already 50 families who take advantage of this ministry regularly. Our benevolence committee was able to help quite a number of people from our church family and even some neighbors of Calvary members who were in need. Our facilities team took advantage of a less-used building to do some much needed painting and cleaning. They also did some renovation projects like our Children’s Ministry hallways (see picture above). Parents, we continue to partner with you by creating two weekly videos: one for early childhood and one for elementary. Find them on the resource page of our website and watch with your children every week. As we continue to provide safe and meaningful in person ministry experiences, we will be adding a third service on Sunday mornings starting September 27. Our service times will be 8:00 am, 9:30 am and 11:00 am. Thank you for staying involved, engaged and united, but most of all for continuing to Pursue Life in Christ together! “Fol l ow Me!”We’re all followers. Many follow the crowd, some follow their hearts, while others

follow the hope of a Yellow Brick Road. What or who do you follow? How you’ll live, who you’ll become, and where you’ll end up, all depend on what or

who you follow. Options abound but one option stands out from all the rest. Jesus said, “Follow Me!” Mark’s Gospel is a map for anyone wanting to follow Jesus.

Let’s dig into Mark’s Gospel and learn to follow Jesus together.

Missing ChurchHis Priority (Acts 1-2 & Colossians 1)

There are many aspects of the church we have been missing lately. But during this series we are digging into what might be issing in our understanding of the church.

We continue that journey today by looking at Jesus' priority for His church.

The Beginning of His Church (Acts 1-2)

The Priority For His Church (Colossians 1)

For Discussion:How does the fact that "in everything Jesus is preeminent" (Col.1:18) practically impact my daily life?

Since Jesus is the priority of the church, discuss how each of us can do even better at making His priorities our priorities.

We're so glad you've joined us today!

We hope you have been warmly welcomed by the Calvary family. We pray God uses this service to inspire and equip you on your journey of

PURSUING LIFE IN CHRIST! If there is any way we can serve you, please let us know!

RENEW2020 FINANCIAL UPDATE

RENEW2020 UPDATE: The Fellowship Hall portion of the renovation is nearly complete despite delays caused by COVID-19. The refurbished room will include visual and acoustical enhancements, a much-needed facelift, and new furniture.

Two additions will improve food service efficiency and stewardship, and a meeting/classroom will provide more ministry opportunities. Financial support has been strong, and the goal is to fully fund the project by the end of 2020!
