Bezanson Agricultural Society
The Bezanson Agricultural Society is a non-profit organization. We are proud to
maintain several of Bezanson’s facilities and host numerous community events as
well as provide educational and recreational programs. The Knelsen Centre (built
2018) includes both the Memorial Hall and the Buffalo Gravel Gym, and can
accommodate any type of event: weddings, fundraisers, anniversaries, funerals,
sporting events, and more!

Rent the Buffalo Gravel Gym!
The Knelsen Centre, built in 2018, is Bezanson’s newest addition. The facility features a full
kitchen and bar, a gymnasium that can be converted to a banquet hall, tables and chairs.
The Buffalo Gravel Gym can be rented by the hour or at a daily rate, and is suitable for league
sports, family play, tournaments, drop in nights, sports clinics/ workshops, fitness classes and
more! The Bezanson Ag Society owns equipment for volleyball, basketball, badminton, pickleball,
and dodgeball. If you would like to bring your own equipment, please have it approved before
booking.

Schedule “B”
Food, Beverage & Tariffs for Music at Events FOOD
1. All Food & Beverage served in the Knelsen Centre Main kitchen is to be provided by an
approved caterer (as defined by Alberta Health Services) the only exception being
wedding and special occasion cakes.
2. A final guaranteed number of guests for each event will be required as per the Caterer’s
guidelines prior to function.
3. The Caterer is responsible for leaving the kitchen clean.
BAR SERVICES
1. The Bezanson Agricultural Society is responsible for all beverage sales and service in
accordance with the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission.
2. The Bezanson Agricultural Society will supply alcoholic beverages served in a licensed
public area. No alcoholic beverage of any kind is allowed to be brought into the
Knelsen Centre including the lobby, Buffalo Gravel Gym, Memorial Hall or Curling
Rink areas for sale or consumption other than through the Bezanson Agricultural
Society. The renter acknowledges that homemade wine, beer and/or liquor are not
permitted to be stored, consumed or displayed in the Centre and will not be served
or made available to guests and/or visitors. As per AGLC regulations, Bring Your
Own Bottle is prohibited.
3. As a general rule, only disposable wares are used for a licensed event. Glass service is
available at an extra charge.
4. Juice and soft drinks are always available as non-alcoholic beverages for all licensed
events.
5. All menu prices and bar charges are subject to change without notice to reflect current
market conditions.
Host Bar: The Renter pays for all drinks consumed by invited guests. Bezanson Agricultural
Society’s staff will keep track of the number drinks consumed and the Renter will be invoiced
afterwards according to the beverage consumption. Minimum bar purchases of $500 are
required or a bartender fee of $25 per hour will apply (minimum 2 bartenders).
Cash Bar: Guests are required to pay for their own beverages individually on a cash basis paying
the bartender. Minimum bar purchases of $500 are required or a bartender fee of $25 per hour
will apply.

Toonie Bar: Invited guests are required to pay $2 for each beverage on a cash basis to the
bartender. And additional cost per drink will be invoiced to the Renter following the end of the
event. Minimum bar purchases of $500 are required or a bartender fee of $25 per hour will
apply.

Tariffs for Music
All events with musical entertainment, live or recorded, are subject to both SOCAN and Re-Sound
charges as listed. The fees collected by these two agencies are mandatory licensing fees as per an
agreement with the Federal government and/or distributed as royalties to the original artists
and do not represent any revenue to the Bezanson Agricultural Society. These fees will be
applied to the final invoice.
Both SOCAN and Re-Sound charges are based on room capacity authorized under the Knelsen
Centre facilities and not on actual attendance of the event and are as follows:

Schedule “C”
Acknowledgement and Waiver Renter(s), as defined in the Agreement dated ______________, herein acknowledge that it is their sole responsibility for
Host Liquor Liability Insurance or PAL Insurance for the Function, as defined in the Agreement.
The Renter(s), at its cost, is responsible for conforming to and adhering to all the Alberta Gaming and Liquor
Commissions (AGLC) regulations and any related matters. The Renter(s) acknowledge that homemade wine, beer
and/or liquor are not permitted to be stored, consumed or displayed on Bezanson Agricultural Society’s premises
and will not be served or made available to any guests or visitors. “Bring Your Own Bottle”, (BYOB) is prohibited.
In the event that the Owner has provided consent to the Renter, their agents, employees, invitees or contractors for
alcoholic beverages, of any kind, to be consumed on the premises or on the premises grounds, the Renter
acknowledges that it will purchase from a licensed insurance agent or broker a Host Liquor Liability Insurance
Policy (PAL) coverage in an amount not less than $2,000,000.00, and shall name, as an additional insured, the
Bezanson Agricultural Society under such policy. The Renter agrees to provide to the Owner, or its representative,
a Certificate of Insurance evidencing the coverage arranged for and received before the Function, as defined in the
Agreement. Required Liability Insurance may be available through the Renter’s insurance company or fpb.ca
(Bezanson Agricultural Society’s Insurance provider), the renter’s personal insurance broker or by visiting
palcanada.com
It is further agreed that at all times the Renter, without limitation, indemnify and save harmless the Bezanson
Agricultural Society, its directors, officers, employees, volunteers and all other representatives from and against
all liability, claims, actions, losses, costs or damages arising out of actions or omissions of the Renter.
This Waiver/Acknowledgment shall survive the termination and/or expiration of the within Rental Agreement
between the Owner and the Renter.

RENTAL CHECKLIST
A Walk Through with the Renter is required prior to the Renter receiving keys, and the Schedule
“E” Checklist is reviewed and signed, unless otherwise agreed upon, before any set up and/or
decorating for the event and within 12 hours following the event. Renter is to ensure all

1) Bezanson Ag Society has received the
signed Facility Rental Agreement, all
fees due, the Host Liquor Liability
Insurance Policy (PA) & Schedule “A”
and Schedule “C” signed. The Renter’s
damage deposit will not be refunded if
all the fob and keys are not returned.
2) No Exits are not to be blocked off or fire
lane blocked.
3) No articles may be fastened to the walls
or electrical fixtures. Tacks, tape, nails,
screws, bolts or any such tools which
can mark the floors, walls or ceilings are
prohibited.
4) The Facility and Facility Grounds must
be left clean and undamaged:

a. All decorations, supplies and
equipment and/or other debris
must be removed.
b. Tables and chairs cleaned,
wiped, dried & put away in
designated storage area
c. Chairs stacked 10 high or as
instructed.
d. All garbage cans emptied and
garbage put in the dumpster.
e. Dumpster is not for broken
chairs, air mattresses, plastic
from bales. An extra dumpster
charge will apply if the
dumpster is filled with these
items.
f. Memorial Hall: The renter will
be responsible for cleaning the
kitchen, including wiping down
cupboards, drying sinks,
putting away all dishes, pots &
pans, utensils, and sweeping
the floor. Otherwise a cleaning
fee will be deducted from the
damage deposit (minimum:
$50).
g. The caterer is to clean up
completely, including mopping
floors when finished.
5) This is a non-smoking facility. Smoking
of tobacco is allowed on the grounds in
the provided receptacles to dispose of
cigarettes. Renter is to ensure that all
attendees are aware of the designated
smoking area(s).

6) No illegal drugs or cannabis allowed on
Bezanson Agricultural Society premises.
This is private property.
7) No alcohol allowed outside the rental
facility as per AGLC regulations.
8) No animals are allowed in the Knelsen
Centre or Owner facilities. The
exception may be Service Dogs
(Identification Card must be provided).
9) Due to fire regulations, hay/straw bales
are not to be used within the facility.
10) All decorations must meet fire
regulations. Candles with open flame
are not permitted. Candles in an
enclosed container (ie/votive) are
acceptable if the tip of the flame is
minimum one inch below the lip of the
container.
11) No confetti or confetti-like substances,
hazardous materials, abrasives, glitter,
silly string, sand or rice allowed in the
Knelsen Centre. Cleanup charges will
apply if they are used.
12) No fireworks permitted.
13) Outdoor fires only permitted in designated camping areas with portable firepits and if there is no fire ban. Leave the area clean. No burning of pallets.

14) Any cleaning required after the event is
over will be taken from the damage
deposit.
15) The damage deposit will be returned to
the Renter within 30 days from the date
of the Function at the address for the
Renter as listed above if inspection is
satisfactory.
16) Clean up of Knelsen Centre is to be done by 3 pm of the last day of rental.
17) An inventory of supplies and equipment is on file and the renter will be charged for missing items.
