Ultimate Renovationsawarded for out of box thinking

From humble beginnings to winning Calgary’s Grand SAM Award for Renovator of the Year an amazing eight times, including its most

recent on April 14, Danny Ritchie has crafted the ultimate renovation company. The president of Ultimate Renovations says the company began in 1979 with two people working out of a garage in Edmonton doing window cladding before branching into exterior renovations. In 1991, the company was asked to do some siding and roofing work in Calgary following a huge hail storm, and some of those homeowners also wanted additions to their homes, Ritchie recalls. “We did the first addition over a garage in Edgemont and the neighbours saw it, loved it, and the renovations snowballed from there. We moved down here and things took off.”Ultimate Renovations’ success is due in part to Ritchie’s attitude of seeing beyond the norm and thinking outside the box. “People have a habit of looking at things in a traditional way; we look at new ideas and innovations and ways to improve

things – we always want to make things better.”This innovative thinking can be seen in Ultimate’s fabulous new Showcase – a fully renovated 1970s- era bungalow on Lake Mead Green in Bonavista that showcases the renovator’s quality craftsmanship. This is Ultimate’s third project of this nature and its incredible design earned it the Best Kitchen Renovation (up to $99,000) award, as well as a nomination for Best Home Renovation (with addition) at this year’s SAM Awards. “When we first entered the SAM Awards in 1998 there were four award categories for renovations as well as the Renovator of the Year award, and we came home with every award,” Ritchie says. “That was a big achievement for us and a turning point because it opened our eyes to the fact we were doing high quality work and it gave us a lot of exposure.”One of Ultimate’s most successful projects was its second showhome in Lake Bonavista, which won SAM Awards for Best Home Renovation (without addition), Best Basement Renovation and Best

This stunning showhome also captured the Alberta Award for Excellence in Housing, as well as a recent (national) CHBA award nomination. This prestigious award was the company’s first provincial victory (in its first entry). Another reason for Ultimate’s success is its experienced team that includes internal skilled tradesmen and long-time employees, as well as dedicated vendors and sub-trades, who all work collaboratively to ensure that projects are completed on time, on budget and to a high standard of quality. Ultimate has also added a state-of-the-art shop in Calgary to craft its own custom cabinets, “so it gives us control over the quality and delivery schedules,” Ritchie says.Customers also appreciate that Ultimate works closely with them to make their dreams a reality, and owns three homes available for temporary residence during renovations, allowing clients a way to avoid potential “mess and stress.”

From digging holes and framing, to fine carpentry and design, Frank Gordon-Cooper has accumulated a good deal of knowledge and

experience over the years that he draws on to turn homeowners’ dreams into a reality.

The owner of Kurmak Builders recalls starting out straight from SAIT, where he studied architectural design, in 1990 working as a designer for a local home builder before his interest in learning more about the home-building industry had him move on to a Swiss architect/contractor, where he got involved in all aspects of the building process while constructing multi-million dollar homes.

He evenutally moved on to work with other contractors, but soon decided to start his own company where customers “were referred to by name not a number, and be a renovator that would listen to their wishes and dreams, and give them the care and attention they deserve.”

Since establishing Kurmak Builders in 2001, Gordon-Cooper has been doing exactly that. The award-winning renovator and custom home builder, who works on about 12 to 15 projects a year, has become known for crafting quality projects that meet or exceed their clients’ expectations.

“I think we provide good quality, longstanding service,” Gordon-Cooper says. “We’re really hands-on working with customers from design to finish, co-ordinating the work, and we have policies in place that at each stage we check to ensure the work is done to our satisfaction, to ensure the quality is there and to get the results we want.

“If we make mistakes we’ll step up and make it right even two years after the job is complete,” Gordon-Cooper says, adding that all his trades people and suppliers, which he’s been working with for at least five years, “have the same overall philosophy – I know I’m going to get the quality of work I want and if I don’t I know they will redo it.”

He also draws on his extensive experience when quoting on projects, examining every detail so customers aren’t hit with unexpected costs during the renovation. “We try to do everything to eliminate surprises and eliminate risks, and we find at the end of the day we’re below or on budget unless the customer has requested a change order.”

Kurmak has completed many successful projects over the years including its most successful to date to a 1950s bungalow in Britannia that won the Best Home Renovation (With Addition) Award at the 2010 SAM Awards. The company renovated about 50 per cent of the main floor, including popping out the roof in the kitchen to add height and skylights for a stunning design, and crafted a new master bedroom with ensuite in a 200 sq. ft. addition to the rear of the home.

The renovator has become a two-time finalist for a SAM Award this year in the Best Bathroom/Ensuite Renovation category. A bathroom and an ensuite in a Briar Hill estate home were gutted and custom renovated with new vanities, in-floor heating, showers and cabinets, and both were named finalists in the category.

WARRANTIES AND INDUSTRY MEMBERSHIPS

Kurmak is a member of RenoMark so it has WCB coverage, is bonded and insured and offers a two-year workmanship warranty. It’s a member of the National Home Warranty offering a one-year and five-year warranty. WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING:

We see great value in the service we received, and we are very happy with the final result!” – Sue & Lorne, McKenzie Lake“Kurmak was great at keeping an overall eye on the •trades, the quality of the work, and the schedule . . . we would definitely recommend Kurmak to our friends and family.” – Gary & Marnelle, McKenzie Lake“Kurmak Builders really listened to what we wanted •and came up with a design that encompassed all of our dreams and wishes . . .” – Thelma & Stewart, North Glenmore Park

LitwiLLer Brings transparency, accountability

to the renovation industryby: Heather Ryan

When homeowners choose Litwiller for their renovation project, not only are they hiring a reputable company with more than 30

years of experience, but a company that stands behind its work two, 10 or even 20 years down the road.

David Litwiller, a renovator and custom-home builder, started in the industry as an apprentice carpenter in 1971. In 1976, the journeyman carpenter saw first-hand some of the poor workmanship being done in the renovations trade.

“I knew I could do a much better job and treat customers with respect, so I started my own company,” he says. “I listen to what people want to do, give them some options based on my experience, and provide them with quality workmanship.”

David still meets with his clients personally to talk about their vision, and then will introduce the client to a designer that suits their particular

project. “I put them together at the design stage, but I stay involved in the process,” he says. David maintains contact with his clients from the initial meeting right through to project completion.

“[With] ninety-five per cent of our clients we can phone a year later and ask to drop by for coffee, and we’d be welcome because they are that pleased with the work we did and the service we provided,” he says. “We want people to be proud of their home and to want to show it off.”

As a RenoMark member, the company offers a two-year warranty, but David stands behind his workmanship, and will go back into homes years later to fix a problem “because my name is on the company.” In fact, he recently went back to fix a furnace space in a home he built over 20 years ago.

While some renovators do the work and disappear, Litwiller takes pride in offering stability that comes from a company that’s been in business for more than 30 years. David even makes his

1050s bungalow that had an attached garage. Can you spot which side?

WARRANTIES AND INDUSTRY MEMBERSHIPS

Litwiller is a member of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association – Calgary Region and RenoMark. It offers two-year workmanship and 10-year structural warranties. It is also a member of Built Green, EnerGuide, the National Home Warranty program and the Better Business Bureau.

AWARDS

Litwiller has been a fi nalist for SAM Awards fi ve times, and was the 2004 Canadian Reno Council Renovator of the Year and the 2003 Alberta Home Builders Association Renovator of the Year.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING:

“Very, very happy with my renovations and • soooo glad that I made the decision to fi nish off my house. I want you to come back and update the kitchen.” – Susan

“As you recall, I phoned you about a window • crank for a bay window you installed in my house about 10 years ago. At the time you were leaving on vacation the next day. I was quite surprised when you showed up at the house the same evening to check things out and absolutely blown away when I walked into your supplier the next day and was handed a new one! I could not believe it. Thank you.” – Don, Thorncliffe

GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY:

David Litwiller has been on the CHBA – Calgary Region’s Reno Council for 20 years; fi ve years as chairman. He was also the Alberta representative on the Canadian Reno Council for fi ve years. Twice each year Litwiller hosts a free “How To Hire A Renovator” seminar featuring independent industry speakers who cover the do’s & don’ts of hiring a renovations contractor (the next seminar will be held October 2012; for details, visit www.howtohirearenovator.com).

personal address and phone number available so clients can fi nd him. “I want customers to know I’m not going anywhere and that they’re getting 33 years of experience when they hire me.”

Litwiller has had some key trade partners for more than 20 years. “They’ve been with me for years and know I have high expectations,” he says. “I want the project to be done on time and budget, so I don’t want them to waste time and money standing around, and I want to minimize the disruption and stress for the homeowner.”

It’s this attitude that has made Litwiller so successful over the years and earned him both repeat customers and referrals.

Since 1977, Litwiller has done hundreds of exterior and interior renovations and constructed 30 custom homes. One of his most successful projects can be seen on his website – a 1960s bungalow that was gutted to the studs and completely rebuilt.

personal address and phone number available so clients can fi nd him.

REVOLVE FURNISHINGS

inspire your imagination

Revolve Furnishings was started in 2003 with the concept to create a store offering fashionable, modern furniture in a fun,

upbeat atmosphere that would inspire the imaginations of its customers.

Today, the Revolve concept has proven so successful the company now has two locations and numerous repeat and referral customers who adore Revolve’s impressive selection of furniture and accessories.

“Revolve is style conscious, trend conscious but we’re not pretentious like a boutique store or aggressive like a big-box retailer. We’re about treating our customers like we want to be treated, with respect and care,” says Jeff Stoner, founding partner at Revolve Furnishings. “Our goal is to make customers feel comfortable and make shopping for furniture an enjoyable rather than a stressful experience.

“One of the major differences between us and other furniture retailers is our staff,” he says. “Everyone has a background in design, whether it’s interior design, interior decorating, home staging, or visual design. With our staff ’s experience and

passion for design we’re able to help our clients select the right pieces for their home.”

And they use their design knowledge to help their customers to determine what they’re looking for whether it’s a sofa, dining table or whole new suite.

“Our clients have the answers, we just need to ask the right questions” says Stephanie Bennett, senior interior designer at Revolve Furnishings. She adds that fi nding out about customers’ lifestyles – in regards to entertaining, youngsters or pets – is all part of the process in helping them select the ideal piece of furniture for their home.

“Style, function, quality, availability and price are all important points when selecting a new piece of furniture and we’ll make sure that we check off all the boxes,” she says

“We also understand about budgets, so we’ll help customers put a plan together to purchase the furnishings they need now and how they can add pieces down the road.”

Clients are encouraged to bring in photos and measurements of their space. “We like to sit down with our clients and draw a quick fl oor sketch of the room. The sketch helps us determine the fl ow of the

space and where to best place the furniture,” says Bennett. “This is where we can help them solve the design dilemmas – such as where to place the sofa or the TV. We’ll give you options that you may not have thought about.”

Paint and flooring samples are also great to bring with you when you are shopping for new furniture. “Seeing your colours helps us co-ordinate your new pieces with your existing finishes,” says interior decorator Carissah Klaassen.

Customers can even take home a piece such as a dining room chair, bar stool or table lamp to try it out and see if it works in their decor before they buy it. Revolve also price matches and has a 30 day price guarantee.

At Revolve Furnishings customers are not treated as a number. “We’re not here just to sell a sofa and send them out the door,” Bennett says. “We find it’s important to build relationships with clients and make the process enjoyable so they will purchase furniture of which they can be proud.”

“I just received an e-mail today from a customer who took delivery of a new living room grouping and was so happy with our help. Now they can look forward to entertaining their guests in comfort and style.”

Revolve Furnishings also goes beyond furniture by offering a variety of accessories including artwork, mirrors, lamps and rugs. “We like to be able to help customers put the whole package together,” she says.

motivation when he began Enhance Your Home Renovations in 2007. His background of 27 years experience in the building industry in Calgary served him well in understanding what clients went through during the entire building and renovation process, from quote to completion. Joining him later was Wayne Prothmann, whose 18 years of hands-on construction experience, helped continue the strong growth of Enhance Your Home; as refl ected by the cared-for clients who are extremely happy with the quality of workmanship in their homes and the well-organized process in which Enhance Your Home excels.

Opening Enhance Your Home’s display room and design centre located in the Lake Bonavista Promenade Mall was Enhance Your Home’s provision to its clients in making the entire renovation process as smooth, effi cient, and

cost-effective as possible. Purchasing materials direct from distributors and manufacturers allows Enhance Your Home to offer fi xed price quotes, with designs included, so there will be no fi nancial surprises mid-renovation. As well, eliminating the middle-man in purchasing saves clients money and allows for more control in all areas of the project, from ordering to scheduling, to construction. With all aspects of the renovation under one roof, projects are completed on-time or sooner.

In the design centre, clients will fi nd expert designers who enjoy a challenge and think outside the box; and all the material selections under one roof. Recently Enhance Your Home completed a total renovation of a home in Willow Park. Since the owners appreciated the location of their home – backing onto a golf course, they decided to renovate rather than move. Enhance Your Home won the owners’ trust as they viewed their proposed design and realized the significant savings offered to them. Taking the entire home down to studs, Enhance Your Home re-designed it into a more modern, brighter, open concept home, taking full advantage of the awesome view over the golf course.

As well, a return customer, having already walked the Enhance Your Home journey, refused to purchase a new home until Kaminsky and Prothmann walked through the home with himself and his wife. Kaminsky and Prothmann provided expert knowledge on whether a renovation would be feasible, affordable and what the renovation would look like. Trusting in Enhance Your Home, the owner purchased his new home in Diamond Cove, and Enhance Your Home will begin the transformation to make the owners dream a reality.

One of the keys to creating a truly gorgeous and distinctive deck, gazebo or fl oor is in the materials selected.

For this reason many of the city’s best builders, contractors, deck builders and landscapers are choosing to use Kayu Canada’s Red Balau Batu and Dark Red Meranti, because “it’s the best choice for getting the classic look of Mahogany,” says Kayu Canada president Jim Labelle.

Labelle fi rst discovered the exotic Red Balau Batu while on Mexican cruise in 1991. “Being a general contractor and journeyman carpenter I was interested in the decking because it was not only gorgeous but durable,” he recalls. “I was lucky enough to sit with the chief engineer on the ship, who knew a lot about the wood. I learned it can last 30 to 40 years under extreme conditions and has

always been used for boat building and decking in Europe and the U.S. for many years.

“Red Balau Batu, (also called Philippine Mahogany), is a great outdoor wood that gives you the look of Mahogany and can stand up to Canada’s harsh winters, so I started bringing it in from Indonesia and Malaysia in 1994 to use in my construction company.”

The product was so well received that Labelle eventually formed Kayu Canada Inc. to sell Red Balau Batu, Dark Red Meranti and Yellow Balau Batu and is now the No. 1 supplier of exotic hardwood in Canada. Kayu Canada stocks the woods, along with other accessories such as Messmers UV Plus deck oil and a complete line of installation options, in its warehouses in Calgary, Vancouver and Penticton, B.C.

“The woods are definitely catching on and becoming a popular choice for decking because it’s priced competitively with the composites and clear cedar, but it will outperform them for years, and they’re easy to maintain,” Labelle says.

The product also has many uses – beyond decks, fences and gazebos it can be used for siding, soffits, fascia, retaining walls, ceilings and hardwood floors. “It’s been used by Canada’s best builders, landscapers and deck builders since 1994.”

Labelle is also proud to have supplied the wood for the renovated Devonian Gardens downtown and the Memorial Poppy Plaza opening this summer, as well as many high profile jobs across Canada, including the award-winning Ultimate Renovations’ showhome in Bonavista where you can see the wood on the floor, ceiling, deck and more.

“You can have this cruise ship decking in your yard!” he says. “If your builder doesn’t know about this wood, let them know. You don’t want to be left out because it doesn’t get any better than this.”

Labelle’s suppliers also follow sustainable forest management practices that exceed the highest standards and wood harvesting is careful and selective. In the mostly tropical Malaysian climate, trees regenerate naturally after logging. But enrichment planting follows, resulting in more trees growing back than were there to start.

“Our customer service really makes us stand out because we’re very hands-on and we get lots of comments about how helpful we are,” Sheila says, and as a result they get a number of repeat customers and referrals.

Sheila can also take a photo of a customer’s window or do a drawing of it, and using a specialized computer program they can create a rendering of the valances and draperies the customer is considering. “This gives the client a visual of what the design and colour will look like on the window prior to purchase,” she says.

The store offers a wide selection and carries a full line of Hunter Douglas and Shade-O-Matic window fashions, as well as a few other brands, to meet a variety of people’s budgets, along with blinds, shades, shutters, cornices, custom draperies, decorative drapery rods fabrics and wallpaper. The company specializes in motorized products – both Sheila and Loren are Hunter Douglas certi ed motorized specialists – and it’s one of the few stores in Calgary approved for certi cation.

Sheila’s design savvy ourishes with the creation of custom furniture pieces, such as the gorgeous chair in the store window that can be upholstered to whatever the customer desires, custom bench cushions, toss cushions and even custom bedding to match the draperies and upholstery. A cool addition to the store is the cowhide rugs, “which make great throw rugs because they clean up easily and can be used for upholstery,” Sheila says, noting they recently did a zebra striped ottoman for a customer – the “in” print this year.

Both Sheila and Loren are very involved in the business, which contributes to its continued growth and success. Sheila does home consultations and measurements for the products, Loren does all the installations, “which is an important part of the nished look of a product, and it sets us apart from other businesses because most hire out the installations.“

Sheila’s helps customers with any size project – one home consisted of 50 window coverings – and budget. Customers are also pleasantly surprised at prices, she says, and those with a real tight budget

“We provide a great experience and people enjoy our product,” says Bennett.

Before any project begins they meet with the customer to discuss what kind of atmosphere they want to create. “We show them pictures of our past projects on the iPad in examples similar to their situation. The iPad contains our work in 75 Albums organized to products and services. It helps to give the client different ideas and we make suggestions based on our experience,” Bennett says.

“Often a customer will want a custom landscape design created and we have two outstanding designers on staff, Michelle Lefebre is our landscape architect designer and Jessica Stevens is our full-time horticulturist designer. They both help create what the client wants and needs.”

Lussier adds, “Our pricing is very competitive and fair.”

One of Handyman Landscaping’s recent projects was an approximate 1,000 sq. ft., two-level Trex composite deck and Transcend railing that included installing a hot tub, creating a large removable access panel for tub servicing and running a gas line for a barbecue and patio heater.

“The client loves their new deck. They were big Captain Morgan fans and they chose a two-toned picture framed deck in spiced rum colour decking. After we nished the project we left them bottles of Captain Morgan’s to celebrate with,” Bennett says.

The company’s reputation and great service track record has prompted many commercial corporations to hire Handyman Landscaping for parking lot and building maintenance. “Our main focus is construction, but maintenance has really taken off and we have worked with a lot of bigger clients in the past two years such as Costco, Safeway, Shoppers Drug Mart, Sobeys, Lowes, Sandman Hotels, Sky Service, Moxie’s and the Calgary International Airport,” Bennett says.

CREATES BEAUTIFUL SERENITYby: Heather Ryan

Turning your backyard into a haven for relaxation and entertaining is the goal of the experts at Handyman Landscaping.

Started in 1999, Handyman Landscaping Inc. offers homeowners more than a decade of landscape construction experience with a solid reputation for quality service and workmanship.

From large excavations to any size of retaining wall, from creating rock gardens and installing water features to building decks, fences, patios, and replaces Handyman Landscaping handles any size and type of landscaping job. By using top quality materials and exceeding industry installation speci cations Handyman Landscaping ensures your landscape is built correctly and can be enjoyed for years to come.

“We know our products and we have several years of construction experience,” says Jason Bennett, director of operations-Calgary. “There are ve owners here that care about the company’s future. Mark Beck, Casey Beckhuson, Phil Towler, Mik Lussier, and I work hard for our clients doing it right the rst time. We are all accountable for work.

“We all know the HGTV names like Mike Holmes, Bryan Baeumler, and Scott McGillivray. These are all Handymen who do great work, and we work to that high standard,” he says. “We take pride in providing quality work and we stand behind it with a three-year warranty.”

What sets Handyman Landscaping apart “is the personal service we provide and the professional work we offer,” says Mik Lussier, project manager/estimator. “We have a strong group of employees who are great at what they do, and don’t cut corners. Our warranty lets our customers know if there are any problems, we will be accountable to x them. We want our customers to refer us to their friends and family and we get that by doing great jobs for our communities.”

Handyman Landscaping works closely with customers to “keep the lines of communication open and keep clients involved in the process,” Lussier says. “It’s the client’s backyard escape and we want them to be happy with it forever. Sometimes during the process customers want adjustments done and we’re exible and able to accommodate fairly easily.”

“We provide a great experience and people enjoy our product,” says Bennett.

Before any project begins they meet with the customer to discuss what kind of atmosphere they want to create. “We show them pictures of our past projects on the iPad in examples similar to their situation. Expert Garage Builder: CarShacks

by: Sirkka Vandergraaf

Back in April of 1999, staff at what was then Anchor Concrete realized a speci c niche in the Calgary market for Calgarians requiring

a detached garage. Wayne Martin (now retired) co-founded the reputable CarShacks. Expecting to build 30 garages within their rst year, they ended up building 60. CarShacks’ reputation for quality work and reliability resulted in doubling the count the following year. Now 13 years later, Calgarians continue to count on CarShacks to provide a durable aesthetically pleasing garage that will last for decades to come.

Whether a basic or upscale intricately designed garage with garden doors, stone-work and hardie board/cedar siding, CarShacks is prepared and equipped for the job. Their skilled and reliable long-term sub-trades ensure every aspect of the project is seamless; from excavation and pouring of concrete, to roo ng, mechanical details, and interior speci cs. CarShacks understands that their clients enjoy the use of the space around

them and therefore keep the yard clean, organized, and safe; maximizing time ef ciency so their clients can have their yard returned to them as soon as possible.

As CarShacks leads the industry with ever-improving and ne-tuning the client experience, and to ensure above standard craftsmanship and dependability, their estimator will walk the client through all aspects of the project on-site, and then provide a free detailed eight page quote with all speci cations and expectations. CarShacks’ in-house dedicated staff of six and numerous trade associates take pride in providing a trouble-free job, including taking care of permits and inspection. Staff also works alongside clients in colour selection, time-line awareness, material selection, nancing, and always go the extra distance to ensure a satis ed customer and expertly completed garage. Their excellent communication and customer-focused mindset results in multiple word of mouth referrals testifying to their rst-rate workmanship.

At present CarShacks is building in numerous areas in Calgary, and will soon be constructing large scale garages in Bragg Creek and Turner Valley. They also service surrounding areas such as, Airdrie, Cochrane, Okotoks, High River, Stathmore, Chestermere, and Langdon.

Having built thousands of garages in Southern Alberta over the past 13 years, CarShacks’ admirable reputation continues to precede them. For all of this and more, CarShacks is known as the residential detached garage specialist in Calgary.

TRADEMARKTRADEMARKRENOVATIONS LTD.

Large Scale Professionals:

In 1981, Blair Foisy, owner and president, founded Trademark Renovations Ltd. with a sincere passion to provide Calgarians with a

renovation company that prides itself on quality workmanship and a high standard of integrity and transparency. Foisy’s focus on maintaining the consumer’s best interests and delivering value has always been Trademark’s cornerstone. Their solid history and continuing success allows them to focus on large scale projects ranging from $100,000 to over a million, including historical restorations in the Mount Royal area and other substantial renovations throughout Calgary.

As for any renovation company, the quality of work will only be as good as the materials used and the trades doing the work. Therefore, Trademark maintains long-standing alliances of over ten years with multiple specialized trades who provide a two year warranty and preferred service to Trademark. This network of trades helps keep the overhead down and the savings of up to 10% are passed on to the client, since clients pay a direct material cost to suppliers, and also pay trades directly. “My greatest joy is having the

client be extremely happy when the job is done, and being able to meet people’s expectation and beyond, so we use tradesmen who are excellent at what they do,” says Foisy.

Since Trademark specializes in large scale projects, renovation knowledge and experience are crucial to the success of the project. Trademark recently showcased their renovation know-how with a complete renovation in Altadore which required a 400 square foot addition on the back of the house, allowing for an extended kitchen and entertaining area, and increased space in the basement. Their engineering expertise resulted in the removal of the exterior supporting wall, replacing it with a clear span laminated girder-truss for supporting the load of the second oor. The delighted homeowners are now enjoying their modern open-concept home.

As well in the inner-city Renfrew area, Trademark’s wisdom is once again relied upon as the owners of a 1950s bungalow is currently entrusting Trademark with a full-house renovation including a new roof with new trusses for a vaulted ceiling; and removing

the existing basement slab, and excavating clay to accommodate a taller ceiling height, underpinning the foundation, and installing weeping tile for proper drainage. In the end this 1700 square foot bungalow will be given a new life, and almost double in value. The owners’ con dence in Trademark’s ability will allow them to appreciate their home for years to come.

Clearly, Trademark’s honest business acumen and skill result in their consistent annual 72 percent average of new business through referrals. In addition, providing the maximum results for the best price is also of concern to Trademark.

“On renovation projects $100,000 and up, we will match and better a recognized competitor’s quote by 10 percent. At Trademark Renovations, we are constantly reviewing and negotiating preferred pricing arrangements with our supplier and trade partners to get you the best value for your money. We are so con dent about our pricing that we guarantee you the lowest price for your overall renovation project while delivering our unsurpassed level of quality, service and transparency,” says Foisy.

WARRANTIES AND INDUSTRY MEMBERSHIPS

Trademark is deeply committed to improving the industry, having longtime memberships with many organizations such as Built Green and BBB. Foisy is also currently working closely with Jim Caruk of HGTV’s Real Renos, on the creation of an industry specifi c national association for renovators and small custom builders. Trademark’s workmanship comes with a full 2 year warranty as well as manufacturer warranties.

AWARDS

Over the years Trademark has received several SAM Awards, Alberta Awards of Excellence in Housing, and is a repeat winner of the much coveted Consumer Choice Award.
