Method of application of RENOLIT ALKORPLUSPool Shell Disinfectant

Application in new pools

Any new installation may be clean but not sterile. RENOLIT ALKORPLUS Pool Shell disinfectant, will provide long-lasting protection to the pool structure and prevent contamination. Apply the diluted product to the pool shell and allow to dry before installing the membrane. It is important that the pool shell is completely dry before the installation of the geotextile or reinforced membrane.

Application for renovation work

Existing pool shells may be already contaminated either through use or neglect after being left empty. An initial treatment with RENOLIT ALKORPLUS Pool Shell Disinfectant will dissolve organic matter and disinfect the entire pool.Once applied leave it to take effect for 24 hours and then clean up the disinfected pollution with a vacuum cleaner or by flushing through the drain.

A second application of the product should be carried out and allowed to dry and. This will complete the disinfecting programme and prevent any future build up of micro-organisms.

Do not install the geotextile or the membrane until it is completely dry.

The pool must be cleaned and disinfected whether it is a new pool or one that is to be renovated to ensure the absence of any organic matter.Any soil or organic matter left in the dark damp conditions behind the liner will encourage micro-organisms to flourish which can migrate through the liner causing permanent staining. To prevent this RENOLIT Recommends the use of RENOLIT ALKORPLUS pool shell disinfectant which will remove any organic residue and prevent further problems.

After dilution in 9 litres of water it should be applied with brush or roller over the entire surface of the pool creating a white foam that should cover the entire surface.

Fixing systems

9 mm RENOLIT ALKORPLUS strip9 mm wide and 1.5mm thick strip, made of the same materials as the RENOLIT ALKORPLAN reinforced membrane and with the same strength and adhesion properties.Used as a method of fixing the top of wall sections into extruded rigid PVC section (Linerlock) or aluminium section. The strip is hot-air welded into the wall sheet giving a double thickness of membrane that fastens into the linerlock extruded profile. The water pressure maintains a downward pressure on the fixing keeping it in place.The fixing may be detached by lowering the water level, thus reducing the water pressure and pulling the wall sheet upwards and working it out of the profile.

RENOLIT ALKORPLUS Heat activated contact glueFast-drying RENOLIT ALKORPLUS glue that is activated by applying heat. Ideally suited for fixing reinforced membrane to vertical and inclined walls, it will adhere to most surfaces.The adhesive is applied to both surfaces to be bonded which must be clean and allowed to dry. The mebrane is then laid and heat is then applied. This adhesive is suitable for bonding to metal, wood, rigid PVC, and concrete. It is not suitable for application to polythene or polystyreneThe coverage should be approximately 150 gms/sq metre and will vary with the nature of the surface being bonded.

RENOLIT ALKORPLUS Seam sealerSolution of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) in tetrahydrofuran (THF) for aesthetic finishing and reinforcement of welded joints in the RENOLIT ALKORPLAN reinforced membrane. RENOLIT ALKORPLUS THF solventThe RENOLIT ALKORPLUS THF (tetrahydrofuran) solvent may be used used to adjust the correct viscosity of liquid PVC or sealing lacquer. These products are shipped with the correct viscosity, but as they are made with volatile solvents (THF or MEK), and over time their viscosity varies.To adjust it, a small amount of THF is put in the polyethylene bottle containing the sealant.

It is also used to clean PVC fittings (pipes, piping, etc.), prior to application of the specific PVC glue.

RENOLIT ALKORPLUS Anti-stainThe anti-stain ALKORPLUS® 81059 is a mineral product in a 70% concentrated suspension available in 1 litre bottles. The product is able to neutralise various metal ions such as copper, lead, tin, cadmium, arsenic, silver, etc.One of the most important causes of stains in the lining of pools is the presence of dissolved metals in water. These stains are difficult, and sometimes impossible, to remove.Therefore, it is important to try to reduce the risk of formation of these stains by reducing the presence of dissolved metals in water. Water treatment with anti-stain product ALKORPLUS® 81059 is a simple and safe process that reduces the presence of dissolved metals in pool water.

The presence of dissolved metals in the water can have several causes::

3 Corrosion of piping, pumps, alternators, connections, etc.

3 The presence of impurities in water treatment products *

3 The partial or complete replacement of pool water• (e.g. tap water may contain from 0 to 0.2 ppm of copper)

* The presence of metallic impurities in water treatment products can be easily determined:

Take 5 ml of water treatment product in a glass (if it is a solid product, dissolve 1 g in 5 ml of water), add 3 drops of the anti-stain ALKORPLUS® 81059 product, mix for 15 seconds and allow to react for 10 minutes.

If the water treatment product contains any heavy metals, the ALKORPLUS® 81059 will turn grey. Beware, if the tested product is very acidic (eg anti-lime products, certain products for cleaning the water line), it may give off an unpleasant odour. Therefore, we recommend testing outside.

RENOLIT ALKORCLEAN Degreasing cleaner RENOLIT ALKORCLEAN is a degreasing agent for cleaning the scum line of the pool.Degreasing cleaner RENOLIT ALKORCLEAN can remove dirt that accumulates on the walls of the pool, particularly along the water level.

Due to its composition, this product is especially effective in the removal of oils and fats that are deposited on wall of the pool due to the continued use of sun creams and oils as well as organic waste arising from an environmental origin or deposited by the bathers themselves.

UseApply the product to a (non-abrasive), dry cloth and rub all along the water line. In some cases it is advisable to slightly reduce the water level to apply the product more comfortably. It is not necessary to completely empty the pool.
