It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single geek in possession of an (arguably) good set of data, must be in want of a backup.

For you are not a Man (or a Woman) until you have had an hard disk corrupt on thee.

... and by the third strike (on the desk), a conclusion shall be reached...

... you can’t trust a geek.

I forget when was the last time I actually worked on a PC instead of a laptop

I don’t have a home server but I have a remote one ( my birthday is on the 21st of November, I want a 256K slice kplstks)

Yes, I have a “portable” hard disk; there’s also a reason I have 3 agendas that all sync

Problem: daily sync critical data to a remote server which is not under my full control.

Want:

remote server not to have access to plain data at ANY point

low bandwidth usage

low leakage of information

Status: *coff* *coff* [1]

I have a shell (yes, shell) script hack (does the deed)

low bandwidth usage √

low redundancy of uploaded information √

popular Unix tools instead of obscurity √

low leakage ... well, almost

Still very much at a conceptual stage

analysis, portability, recovery, leakage, blocks, speed, more analysis...

And, of course, want to do it in Perl... duuh
