The desktop CD allows you to try Ubuntu without changing your computer at all, and at your option to install it permanently later. This type of CD is what most people will want to use. You will need at least 384MiB of RAM to install from this CD

Desktop AlternateThe alternate install CD allows you to perform certain specialist installations of Ubuntu. It provides for the following situations:setting up automated deployments;

upgrading from older installations without network access;

LVM and/or RAID partitioning;

installs on systems with less than about 384MiB of RAM (although note that low-memory systems may not be able to run a full desktop environment reasonably).

Shortcut Keyboard yang sering digunakanAlt+F7 = Move Window (menyeret/memindahkan jendela di bawah kursor)

Alt+F4 = close window

Alt+Tab = berpindah antarjendela yang sedang dibuka

Alt+F2 = Run Command (seperti Win+Rnya Windows)

Ctrl + Alt + D = minimize all / show desktop

Ctrl + Alt + F1 = login virtual terminal

Ctrl + Alt + F7 = kembali ke GUI

Crtl + Alt + L = lock window

DI NautilusCtrl+S di Nautilus = memilih berkas dengan pola semisal *.exe

Ctrl+L di nautilus = memunculkan/mematikan address bar

Ctrl+H di nautilus = hide/unhide seluruh berkas

Dari run command, gksu nautilus = Membuka nautilus dengan mode root

modeBeberapa Perintah favorit pada terminalIfconfig = melihat daftar alamat IP

Ping = Mengirim paket ICMP Echo kepada host tertentu

Top = Melihat proses yang aktif, diurutkan dari yang paling besar menggunakan resources

/etc/init.d/nama-service perintah = start, stop, restart, melihat status suatu service

Clear = membersihkan layar

Ctrl + C = menginterupt proses yang berlangsung di terminal

$ sudo dpkg -i *.deb

Gunakan nautilus mode root untuk mengcopy folder repo-ubuntu-12 ke /opt/locrepo/archieve/

Buka terminal, kemudian ketikan$ sudo locrepotunggu +- 5 menit

Update database Software center$ sudo update-apt-xapian-index

$ sudo update-software-center

Jalankan kembali Ubuntu Software Center
